In the afternoon of October, 31st 2013, the University of Danang (UD) welcomed the delegation from Irish Embassy led by the Irish Ambassador in Vietnam, H.E.Damien Cole. In the delegation, there were Ms. Smruti Indamar – Director ASEAN, Enterprise Ireland; Ms. Aine Kinsella – ASEAN Market Executive, Enterprise Ireland; Mr. Phan Dang Cuong – Irish Aid, Embassy of Ireland; Ms. Tran Thi Phuong Mai – Coordinator, Enterprise Ireland. Attending the meeting, there were Assoc. Prof. Tran Van Nam – President of UD; Dr. Le Thi Kim Oanh – Vice Rector of University of Science and Technology, UD; Dr. Dao Huu Hoa – Vice Rector of University of Economics, UD; Dr. Hoang Hai – Director of International Cooperation Department; MA. Ho Long Ngoc, Vice Director of International Cooperation Department; Dr. Nguyen Le Hung, Vice Director of Science, Technology and Environment Department; Assoc. Prof. Luu Quy Khuong - Head of Science, Postgraduate Studies and International Cooperation Office, University of Foreign Language Studies, UD; Dr. Truong Phuoc Minh – Head of Science, Postgraduate Studies and International Cooperation Office, University of Education, UD; Dr. Nguyen Hiep - Head of Science, Postgraduate Studies and International Cooperation Office, University of Economics, UD and other relevant officers.
At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Tran Van Nam briefly introduced about framework of organization as well as training programs of UD. Especially, President Tran Van Nam also presented cooperative programs that have been conducted between UD and other universities in the world. On this occasion, President also expressed his desire that H.E. Damien Cole - Ambassador of Ireland in Vietnam will be a bridge to link the cooperation in scientific technology, culture, society... among UD, Irish universities and Irish Enterprises. In addition, UD can not only send lecturers, students to study at Irish universities through different scholarships but also co-research in the field of scientific technology.
Responding to proposals by Assoc. Prof. Tran Van Nam, H.E. Damien Cole- Ambassador of Ireland in Vietnam expressed his willing to be a bridge to link the cooperation in the above proposals. Especially, H.E Damien Cole highly valued efforts and achievements as well as orientation development of UD. On this occasion, H.E. Damien Cole also expressed his love to Danang city – a potential city of economic and cultural development.
At the end of the meeting, H.E. Damien Cole expressed his thanks to UD for the warm welcome and hoped that cooperative programs in training and scientific research between UD and Irish universities will develop steadily.
After the meeting, the delegation from Irish Embassy had a talk on “Development experience & role of technology in the development of Ireland” with UD’s students. This talk with a lot of useful information attracted more than 40 students from English Department – University of Foreign Language Studies, UD and students from Center of Excellence – University of Science and Technology, UD. The working visit of delegation from Irish Embassy ended successfully and set a foundation for the lasting, firm and developing relationship among UD, Irish universities and Irish enterprises.
