In the morning of July 27th, 2015, at the University of Danang, the 3rd International Symposium on Formulation of the Cooperation Hub for Global Environmental Studies in the Indochina Region was officially opened in the coordination between the University of Danang and Kyoto University, Japan.
The Symposium was home to more than 130 scientists, researchers, experts in environmental areas from Vietnam, Japan and others countries in the Indochina region.
Reportedly, this is an annual symposium which was successfully organized in Hue 2013, in Can Tho 2014. The Symposium 2015 in Danang attracted more than 130 scientists, researchers, experts in environmental areas from Vietnam, Japan and others countries in the Indochina region.

The 3rd Symposium 2015 geared to future possibilities for international academic collaboration in education, researches and practical contributions to the Indochina society through collaboration with private companies, aiming at solutions of global environmental problems in the rapidly progressing Indochina region.

Basedon the tight cooperation with the GSGES since 2007, UD has signed a comprehensive cooperation with Kyoto University in 2014. The Symposium 2015 marked the importance for the development of cooperation between the two universities.

After the plenary session with the Welcome Address of Prof.Dr. Tran Van Nam – President of UD and Opening Address of Prof. Shigeo Fujii – Dean of GSGES, Kyoto University, the Symposium came to panel session of international scientists focusing on topic “International Collaboration on Education, Research and Practice” with 03 official speeches on (1) Cooperation possibilities of UD with domestic and international universities; (2) Development of academic exchange between Vietnam and Japan and (3) Overview of Kyoto University ASEAN Center.

In the framework ofbilateral cooperation, Kyoto University has supported and funded UD’ seed young researchers to participate in common research with Kyoto University. At this symposium, Kyoto University awarded certificates to young researchers who successfully completed proposals on global environmental studies 2014 - 2015 and announced short list of researchers involved project 2015-2016.

In the afternoon, the delegates attended the report session with short presentation of Japanese companies’ experiences and expectation. This was a special session for Japanese environmental services businesses to promote business opportunities in the field of environmental services and contribute to putting science into practical applications effectively.

In parallelwith business’s report, more than 30 young scientists representing Vietnamese universities presented their research projects and posters with 60 subjects. The reports received much praise and appreciation from the international experts and scientists.
UD respectfully expressed proudness to be selected as a place to host the Symposium and thank to Kyoto University for their high appreciation. As in the Welcome Address, Prof.Dr.Tran Van Nam shared: “the symposium 2015 will open the great chance for the active discussion and implementation of the promotion of collaborative research and education; reach the common initiative on building cooperation network among universities in Indochina Region”
The symposiumachieved great success, leaving a good impression of the organization activity as well as content to foreign partners.
