In the framework of the official visit to Danang City, the delegation of Boras City led by the Mayor Ulf Olsson, had a working visit to the University of Danang (UD).
Opening the meeting, Prof. Tran Van Nam – President of UD welcomed the Mayor of Boras City and briefed about UD as well as its strengths in key sectors of training and highly-quality human resources graduated from advanced countries. At the Mayor’s visit, UD desired to make partnership with Boras City in the fields of economics, engineering, environment, information technology and business management. In particular, the environmental faculties of UD have participated in projects funded by CIDA and many projects in environmental education, waste treatment with Japanese partners. Information technology is one of the areas that UD has made fruitful cooperation with domestic and foreign businesses.
Boras is a City with developed economy, big businesses and high social welfare. UD desired that the Mayor will be the bridge to connect UD and Volvo Buses Corporation for future cooperation. UD has focused on developing partnership model of government – university – business in recent years and look forward to applying this model in partnership with the City of Boras.
Mr. Ulf Olsson expressed his delight at the warm welcome and shared words of Prof.Tran Van Nam. He alsobriefed about the Boras City and Boras University. As the second largest municipality in western Sweden with a population of about 100,000 people, Boras offers a rich choice of public services, trade and commerce, cultural and education events, as well as a highly specialized labour market. Boras is always at the leading of waste recycling in the partnership model of government - university - business. Boras is the Swedish centre for textiles and clothing with several famous companies, and a City of commerce with its 1,500 import and export companies. The University of Boras offers courses and research in fields such as computer science, economics, textiles and engineering.
In addition, the meetingfurther discussed the issues torealize the MOU which was signed between the University of Science and Technology, UD and Boras University, while searching for the financing solution. Through discussion, the two sides agreed to focus cooperation on logistics sciences at the University of Economics, UD and biogas project in Hoa Vang District, Da Nang City (research project of the University of Science and Technology, UD). This will be the first step in specific cooperation between the two sides and will later extend to the other sectors.
The Mayor also vowed to take these contents to the report in the meeting with Danang City’s leaders in the same day.
