On the afternoon of February 16th, 2016, the University of Danang (UD) and VN-UK Institution for Research and Executive Education (VN-UK) has had a working visit with Ms. Jennette Arnold – the Chair of the London Assembly, the UK.
Attendingthe meeting with Ms. Jennette Arnold, there were Prof. Dr. Tran Van Nam – President of UD, Dr. Duong Mong Ha – Rector of VN-UK and the leaders of AdministrationDepartment and International Cooperation Department.

Opening the meeting, Prof. Tran Van Nam expressed the respectful greetings to the Chairwoman and introduced the scaleand capabilities of UD as well as its affiliates. Then, he made some suggestions for the development of cooperation between UD and partners in London.
In its development strategy, UD has always focused on boosting international cooperation with such educational partners in the UK as Aston University, University of Leeds, University of Reading, University of Sunderland, University of Northampton, UK’s large corporations like Tate & Lyte, Rolls Royce ... to develop cooperation in education, research and business innovation. In recent years, UD honored to welcome so many delegations from the UK’s Parliament, the British Embassy, etc. Hopefully, after this visit of the Chairwoman, UD will be introduced to partners in the City of London in particular and the UK in general for cooperation, namely:
- The City of Londonwill support, offer scholarship and receive students/staff of UD;
- Receive faculty of UD in the framework of 599 project, 911 project of Vietnam;
- Recommend UD to involve in projects in the UK, Europe for developing countries in Asia and South East Asia;
- Joint research;
- Support UD to connect with UK’s educational partners to develop joint training programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
- Support the development of VN-UK Institute towards VN-UK University
Many possibilities of cooperation between UD and the UK’s partners have been set out at the meeting.
In response tothe words of President Tran Van Nam, the Chairwoman expressed her sincere thanks for the warm reception by the leaders of UD. She said that the establishment of VN-UK was a clear demonstration of the collaboration between Vietnam and the UK since she had visited Vietnam for the first time in 2012. The development of VN-UK to be the University is essential and feasible in the near future.
Reportedly, Ms. Jennette Arnoldalso concurrently holds the post as President of University of East London, she pledged to support education and research connectivity between UD and University of East London in particular and the dynamic region of East London in general. The collaboration of the UK’s businesses and VN-UK was also focused in her presentation.
The Chairwoman alsoappreciated the Vietnamese community in London that is a community with "a lot of talents and successful businesses".
