The University of Danang impulses the cooperation with Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières - UQTR, Canada



At the invitation of the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières  (UQTR), Canada, President of the University of Danang (UD) worked and discussed with UQTR’s leaders, visited Faculties and Institutes of UQTR and signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the two universities.

The meeting attendees included Prof. Daniel McMahon – President of UQTR, Mr. Sylvain Benoit – Director of International Cooperation Department and Prof.Thang Le-Dinh - School of Business Administration. The leaders talked about the capacity of the two universities, the development priorities of cooperation on the basis of their experience and potentiality. In order to create preconditions for details discussion and implementation, the two universities signed a MOU with the main contents as follows:

1. Exploiting the opportunities to develop cooperation in teaching, research and student exchange

2. Identifying fields of mutual interest to develop partnership. Specifically, economics-management, engineering technology are the focuses  in the first phase of cooperation;

3. Exploiting the opportunities to promote and facilitate the exchange of students, faculty and business partnership.

After the signing ceremony, the UD’s delegation met  Prof. Said Zouiten - Rector of Business Administration School, Prof. William Menvielle and Prof. Eliae M.F. Moreau. Currently, the school has four faculties of Finance and Economics, Human Resource Management, Business Management, Marketing and Information Systems. With  more than 3,000 undergraduate, master and PhD students, the school has 10 lab rooms for research. University-industry partnership is always the priority of the school. The two sides discussed and agreed to implement such cooperation programs as  international  research conference, joint research, training programs 2 + 2 or 2 + 1 + 2 (1 year of French intensive course in Canada), DBA program (Doctor of Business and Administration) in the form of co-supervising. Initially, the University of Economics – UD will host the International Conference on Marketing and deploy master training in Digital Marketing in 2017.

UQTR is very strong in research on small and medium enterprises and start-up, so in this trip, UD’s delegation also visited and worked with the Institute for Small and Medium Enterprises (INRPME). Representatives from UQTR were Prof. Francois Labelle - Dean and Prof. Christophe Bredillet - Director of Research for Sustainable Development of small and medium enterprises. In the meeting, all participants had discussion on research in collaboration with businesses as well as developing scientific journals and increasing the employment rate for students after graduation.

In the field of intensive research, UQTR introduced Hydrogen Research Institute. The Institute focuses on some areas which University of Science & Technology can cooperate such as Renewable Energy, Nanotechnology, Battery, Solar cell, hydrogen, Biofuel, Bioenergy Hybrid Cars, etc. The team met Richard Chahine – Director who introduced the Lab and testing hydrogen-powered cars, and introduced a typical Lab namely DuongLab run by Prof. Adam Duong. This is a research lab for students from many countries. Many scientific research papers were published in the prestigious scientific journal SCI. In the framework of cooperation, the Lab is willing to receive PhD fellows from UD.

The delegation also visited the School of Engineering which specializes in Chemical Technology, Materials, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical – Electronics Engineering and Information Technology. Prof. Kodjo Agbossou - Rector presented the results of research and university-industry collaboration and look forward to receiving the master's students and doctoral students of UD. In addition, the professor can provide scholarships for outstanding young lecturers of UD.
