In the morning of September 12th, 2016 the University of Danang (UD) welcomed and worked with the delegation from TokushimaUniversity led by Mr. Noji Sumihare - Rector of TokushimaUniversity (TU). In the delegation, there were also Mr. Jin Chenghai – representative from International Centre and Mr. Hideki Kobayashi - International Manager (TU)
The meeting attendees from UD were Prof. Dr.Tran Van Nam – President of UD, Dr. Tran Dinh Khoi Quoc – Director of Academic Department, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Le Hung – Vice Director of Science, Technology and Environment Department, MA. Ho Long Ngoc – Vice Director of International Cooperation Department, Dr. Le Thi Xuan Thuy – Faculty of Environment, University of Science and Technology – UD with other relevant officers.
At the meeting, President Tran Van Nam shared that UD has been having an effective cooperative relationship with Japanese partners such as JICA, Tokyo University in the implementation of joint research projects. Moreover, UD and TU have a lot of similarities in various aspects, therefore the both universities can easily find out projects and exchange experiences in doing scientific research.
In the 2016-2017 academic year, UD focuses on developing School of Medicine and Pharmacy. It is known that TU is an university specializing in training Medicine and Pharmacy, hence we really hope to receive supports from TU to develop the training program at School of Medicine and Pharmacy.

At the meeting, the leaders of the both universities suggested some long lasting cooperative programs such as: students exchange in the form of short-term course in summer vacation; internship, lecturers exchange, co-research projects...

Besides, UD is one of key regional universities in Vietnam. In the process of development, with the aim of becoming the research university by 2020, UD always promote the cooperative relationship with other universities in the world. In addition, UD is deploying many joint programs taught in English with famous universities in US, UK, Australia.

In Vietnam, the demand to study and use Japanese languageis increasing day by day. There is a big number of students from Japanese Faculty or other Faculties selecting Japanese language as a second language in UD, especially students from technological Faculty and Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Noji Sumihare expressed his thanks to UD for the warm welcome and believed that cooperative programs in training and scientific research between the two universities will develop steadily.
