Kick-off meeting of Hub4Growth project in the framework of Erasmus+ programme



In September 19-21, 2016, the University of Danang (UD), in collaboration with partner institutions, has successfully organized the kick-off meeting of HUB4GROWTH Project (Heightening University - Business partnerships FOR smart and sustainable GROWTH in Asia/ Hub4Growth).

UD has been selected as the Coordinator Institution of HUB4GROWTH which has been granted by European Community with the funding of 742,129 Euros (Seven hundred forty two thousand and one hundred twenty nine Euros). This is the first time that the Vietnamese university has been selected as a Coordinator of Erasmus + Programme. The duration of the Project is from 2016 to 2018 with 04 participating European universities (London Metropolitan University – the UK, University of the Peloponnese - Greece, Mykolas Romeris University – Lithuania and Agora  Institute for Knowledge Management – Spain), 08 Asian Universities (Royal University of Phnom Penh – Cambodia, Svay Rieng University – Cambodia, Tribhuvan University – Nepal, Purbanchal University – Nepal,  Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences – Mongolia, CITI Institute of Mongolia – Mongolia, Thang Long University - Vietnam and the University of Danang) and 04 Chamber of Commerce and Industry of 04 Asian countries. Assoc.Prof.Dr. Vo Trung Hung – Director of the R&D Department, UD has been appointed as the coordinator of the Project.

The Project’s aim is towards support to Asian universities in heightening universities-business partnership in which the main two tasks will focus on providing staff of Asian universities with short-term training courses in Europe on knowledge and skills of collaboration with businesses (at least 20 staff of each university in Asia will be trained and fostered) and establishment of University - Enterprise Centers at Asian universities. The European universities will develop training programs, resources (books, guidance documentation, online training website) and organize study tours and practical training courses,... to help strengthen the cooperation capacity of university – business for Asian universities.

Speaking at the opening session, Prof. Tran Van Nam - President of UD expressed sincere thanks to the partners to trustly elect UD as a coordinator of the Project and for the enthusiastic participation from the beginning to get proposals approved. “We strongly commit to comply with the signed agreement with European Community and to provide participating universities and institutions with a maximum support for as most favorable execution and as highest efficient project as possible” said Prof. Nam.

The project’s contents consist of 07 work packages: (1) Need Analysis and Good Practices; (2) Capacity Building; (3) Set-up the UECs; (4) Quality Control and Monitoring; (5) Dissemination; (6) Sustainability; (7) Project management.

At the meeting, the 12 participating institutions have presented introduction on their universities; details presentation of  07 work packages; discussion on upcoming plans for 6 months; discussion the survey report and analysis of the current state of the university – business cooperation in 4 Asian countries; introduction on the topics for next training courses.

In the meeting, UD officially announced to the participants of the project HR4ASIA (Human Resources management FOR Southeast Asian Universities) that has been approved by the European Community for funding of 815,890 Euros (Eight hundred fifteen thousand and eight hundred ninety Euros) in the duration of 03 years from 2017 to 2019. This is one of the 147 projects which has been selected for funding out of 736  proposals by 2016. UD will be the coordinator institution of this project
