On the occasion of 50th Anniversary ceremony of the University of Nantes (UN) and promotion of scientific research and international cooperation, a celebration week with lots of meaningful activities was officially commemorated at UN. One of remarkable event was the Honorary Doctorate Conferment Ceremony to three scientists, educators of Vietnam, Canada and Senegal.
Receiving the invitation of the Chairman, President of UN, the delegation of Vietnam, led by Prof. Dr.Sc Bui Van Ga, Deputy Minister of Education and Training (MOET), paid a visit to UN for participating in celebration activities for the 50th Anniversary ceremony of establishment and development from March 15-17, 2012. Attending the delegation of MOET, there was the presence of representatives from Hanoi Foreign Trade University and UD. UD delegation included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Van Nam - President of UD, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Kim Hung - Rector of Danang University of Technology, Dr. Hoang Dung - Vice Director of Post Graduate Department.
Prof. Dr.Sc Bui Van Ga – Deputy Minister of Education and Training, former President of UD, is one of three scientists, educators having honor to receive Honorary Doctorate degrees of UN on this occasion. Prof. Francoise Resch - former President of UN, gave a detailed presentation on excellent scientific achievement, significant contribution to education innovation and cooperation development in French community in particular and in the world in general of Prof. Bui Van Ga. Therefore, UN gloried in awarding Honorary Doctorate degree to Prof. Ga at the glorious conferment ceremony on the occasion of 50th Anniversary ceremony of UN. The Honorary Doctorate Conferment ceremony was solemnly organized with the witness of UN’s board of professor, international distinguished guests, French figures, Vietnamese students, master graduates and post graduates.

The University of Danang and Nantes University has signed MOU since 2007 in staff exchange, postgraduates training, supporting the faculty of Pharmacy and Medicine, applying TRT model to researching. Basing on this relationship, UD has appointed 22 staff to do master (14) and doctor (8) degree, under the sponsor of French Government, 322 Project and TRIG Project for majors in civil engineering and economics. Despite of low level of French when arriving in France, facing many difficulties, but the lecturers of UD have made efforts, studied and researched very hard. Therefore, all of them have finished excellently their programs in time and left deep impression on their French Professors and Nantes leaders. Some Master Graduates defended their thesis successfully and were back UD to teach, the others continue doing doctor degree under French scholarship. Students (doctorates) have prepared to defend their thesis in the last months of 2012. Professor Bui Van Ga, Assoc. Prof. Tran Van Nam and Assoc. Prof Le Kim Hung are very pleased with students. They praised, motivated and expressed their solicitous inquiry to the students. UD students show their ambition to finish their course in time and returning home to contribute to building Division, Faculty and university and pushing up TRT along with French Professors based on planned objectives.
President the University of Danang Tran van Nam and President Nantes University Yves Lecointe signed MOU 2012-2017 period with the witness of Deputy Ministry Prof. Bui Van Ga, leaders, Professors of Nantes and lectures of UD studying at Nantes.
According to the agreements , Nantes University commits to receive postgraduates majoring in technology, economics, French, history, architecture, civil engineering, law, pharmacy…with types of study: full time at Nantes or part time at Nantes and UD.
Besides Scholarship of 911 Project, European Scholarships, Nantes University will support students to apply for scholarship from French Government and other organizations under co-research projects. Nantes University will, step by step, offer some Master programs; in short time Nantes offers two majors: civil engineering and architecture. Two sides enhance cooperation in co-research in the above mentioned fields which are offered to postgraduates
