Professor Frédérique Vidal – President of the University of Nice - Sophia Antipolis is appointed as Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation of the French Republic Government

 

According to a statement issued at the Élysée Hall on May 17, 2017, Professor Frédérique Vidal - President of the University of Nice - Sophia Antipolis was officially appointed as Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation of the French Republic Government , under the office term of President Emmanuel Macron.

GS. Frédérique Vidal has been the President of the University of Nice - Sophia Antipolis (France) since 2012 and been reappointed for a four-year term in April 2016. She is an expert in AERES (the Agence d'évaluation de la recherche et de l'enseignement supérieur) from 2007 and EMUNI (Euro-Mediterranean University). She is also a member of theRegional Councilof Provence-Alpes Côte d'Azur  and the University of Lyon. In July 2003, she was awarded the Medal of Honor Legion (Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur).

During her tenure as President of the University of Nice - Sophia Antipolis (UNS) from 2012 to present, Prof. Frédérique Vidal plays a particularly important role in fostering co-operation between the two countries Vietnam – France in general, and between the University of Da Nang (UD) and UNS in particular. She has visited and worked at UD many time to sign MOUs between UD and UNS. Specifically, in April 2013, the MOU on expert exchange, technology transfer and human resource training between UD, UNS and Da Nang Hi-tech Park Management Board was signed by leaders of three parties. Also on this occasion, UD, in collaboration with UNS, organized the RUNSUD international conference on "Research and development of electronic health care system", a successive event from the RUNSUD conference 2010 held at UNS.

Within the framework of bilateral cooperative activities between UNS and UD, the MOU on training (undergraduate and postgraduate), scientific research, technology transfer, faculty and students exchange was proceed  by the two parties in April 2016.

September 2016 marked the official cooperation agreement signing between UD and UNS on the establishment of the MIRE center (Maison de l’Innovation et de la Recherche) to support and promote research and innovation activities at UD.

In the middle of March, 2017, another memorable event in international cooperation achievement of UD with the French partner was the signing of the MOU between UD, UNS and the The Agence universitaire de la Francophonie(AUF) toofficially father the Danang International Institute of Technology (DNIIT), in the presence of Prof. Clément Jean-Luc - Advisor to the Director of International Cooperation of the European Union, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation of the French Republic Government; Ms. Sophie Goedefroit - Director of AUFof Asia-Pacific and Prof. Bui Van Ga - Deputy Minister of Education and Training of Vietnam and representatives from UNS, University of Côte D'Azur and UD.

On the occasion of Prof. Frédérique Vidal ‘s  appointment to the position Minister, Prof. Dr. Tran Van Nam – President of UD sent a congratulatory letter and expressed his deep gratitude on the sentiment and effective cooperation that Prof. Frédérique Vidal has been with UD for the past few years. Hopefully, in the future, with the support and dedication of the new Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, France Republic, the cooperation programs between UD and UNS in particular, and with the French universities in general will be expanded with more prospects and better development.
