Turku University of Applied Sciences (TUAS) in Finland, and the University of Danang boost cooperation

On May 24, Associate Professor, Doctor Tran Van Nam – President of the University of Danang (UD) welcomed the delegation of Turku University of Applied Sciences (TUAS) from Finland led by Ph. D. Juha Kontio – Director of Education.

Dr. Vo Nhu Tien – Vice Rector of Danang College of Technology (DCT); MA. Tran Huu Phuc – Director of Administration Department; MBA. Nguyen Huu Hien – Vice Director of International Cooperation Department; Associate Professor, Doctor Nguyen Ngoc Chinh – Vice Director of Science, Technology and Environment Department; MA. Huynh Huu Hien – Head of Sciences, Post-Graduate and International Cooperation Office of DCT, and other related officers also participated the receiving.

Turku is a cityon the southwest coast of Finlandat the mouth of the Aura River. It is the oldest city in Finland. It takes about two and a half hour by car to Helsinkifrom Turku. Before Helsinki became the capital of the Finland, Turku used to be the first capital of the Finland from 1809 to 1812. Today, with the population of about 175,000 people, Turku is a regional capital and an important business and cultural center. In 2011, Turku was chosen as European Capital of Culture, together with Tallin, the capital of Estonia.

Turku University of Applied Sciences is one of the largest universities of applied sciences in Finland. It has more than 9,000 students, 750 members of staff and 6 faculties: Art Academy; Health Care; Life Sciences and Business; Technology, Environment and Business; Telecommunication and E-Business; Well-being Services. All programs are the harmonious combination of theory and practice. This is the best meet requirements from businesses, and it creates opportunities for students after graduation.

On behalf of the delegation, Dr. Juha Kontio thanks for the warm welcome of UD. In this meeting, both sides had a discussion in detail to promote the cooperation between two universities, especially develop cooperative projects funded from the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. During the working visit, the delegation of TUAS came to UD in order to promote cooperative projects, and organize 2 workshops at UD. The proposal of program funded through the development cooperation funds of the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs covers the following areas of cooperation:

-         Student exchanges;

-         Staff exchanges;

-         Administrative visits;

-         Intensive courses;

-         Network meetings.

The meeting was held in intimate atmosphere, it helped two sides to enhance mutual understanding. At the end of the meeting, the leaders of both universities expressed their determination to carry out the project early and successfully. This will help UD to have more opportunities to access the advanced education of Finland.
