In order to further develop the friendly relationship between Danang city and Daegu Metropolitan city in the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Korea, from 17th-19th August 2017, Daegu Metropolitan City Government has cooperated with Danang city government and The University of Danang (UD) to organize the University Student International Exchange Program in Danang.
As known, this is the second phase of the program which is successfully organized from phase 1 (taking place in Daegu City in July 2017, see details here).
With the participation of 40 students from the Universities in Daegu such as Keimyung University (main partner of UD), Kyungpook National University and Yeungnam University. The program is held with various exciting exchange activities including academic exchanges, cultural and artistic performances, sports exchanges, etc.

Speaking at the welcome ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - Vice President of UD emphasized: "The program is one of the important activities to enhance and strengthen the cooperation between UD and the city of Daegu in particular and Korea in general. The program is also a chance for students of UD and students of universities of the city of Daegu to meet, learn, exchange information, share learning experiences as well as introducing and exchanging Vietnamese and Korean cultures. "

Student Representative, Kim Si Won, shared: "In preparation for this exchange program, I registered and participated in Vietnamese language course for 6 months. Although my ability to speak Vietnamese now is not smooth, I love to talk in Vietnamese with the students of UD. For me, joining this exchange program is meaningful, giving me the opportunity to meet the young people in Vietnam. I have chance to visit historical relics as well as explore unique culture of Vietnam ".

Also in the program, on the same day, the delegation of Daegu had a meeting with UD’s leaders.
On behalf of the delegation of the Daegu City Government, Mr. Song Ki Chan expressed his gratitude for the careful preparation of UD in welcoming and coordinating the exchange program for students. He added that through the program with many useful activities, Daegu City students will have interesting experiences, helping Korean students understand more about people and culture of Vietnam. This helps to maintain the relationship between the two cities more and more durable.

Prof. Dr. Tran Van Nam shared that Korea is a country with a lot of experience for Vietnam to learn, especially in implementing reforms and innovations in education. In the near future, Korean language will become a popular language for Vietnamese high school students other than English, French, Chinese and Japanese.
On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Tran Van Nam also emphasized that this program is the first step for many activities between two cities in the future.
