Meeting with the delegation of Aston University, United Kingdom



In the afternoon of August 7, 2012, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Doan Quang Vinh, Vice President of the University of Danang (UD) had a meeting with the delegation of the University of Aston, UK led by Mr. Stewart Comfort, Director of international and external relations. Attending the meeting there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Van Hoa, Rector of University of Foreign Languages, leaders of  Department of International Cooperation, head of Science, Postgraduate and International Cooperation office of the University of Economics and University of Foreign Languages and relevant officers.

At the meeting, Dr. Doan Quang Vinh gave a brief introduction about organizational structure, training programs and cooperation with foreign countries, paying special attention to cooperation with the universities in UK. Vice President emphasized the establishment of Vietnam – UK university is one of the most important activities contributing to fulfill the outlined strategic objectives of UD and expressed a desire that Aston University will be a strategic partner  of UD in the development and implementation of the project.

On this occasion,Mr.StewartComfortalso presented an overview ofAstonUniversity. Located inthe centre of Birmingham, AstonUniversityisone oftheoldest andmost prestigiousuniversities of UK. AstonUniversityis amultidisciplinaryand long-established research-led University known for its world-class teaching quality and strong links to industry and government. Being a leading university for graduate employment success, the University is consistently ranked in the UK's top 20 universities. 

Leaders of the twouniversitieshad averyopen-hearteddiscussionandopened up manyopportunities for cooperationin organizingjointseminars, specialemphasis onthe development ofjointresearch projectsin the areas ofeconomicsand engineering. 

After the meeting,AstonUniversitydelegation took the timeto find outmore detailswith the leadersof the University of Foreign Languagesandpay a visit to the University of Technology (DUT). During the visit to DUT,the twopartiesagreedto cooperate onfaculty exchanges, joint research andjoint supervision of PhD projects. AstonUniversitydelegation wasveryinterested inthe Centerof Excellenceand  advancedtraining programsof DUT. After that, thedelegationvisitedthe Centerof Excellence, talked to studentsof advanced programs, visited theInstitute ofMechanicalTechnologyand Automation, Center for AppliedMechanical Technologyand Equipment of DUT.  

The meetingended inwarm atmosphere. Both parties expressed theirwillingnessand commitment tomake every effortto achievesuccess inthecomingcooperation.
