At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Tran Van Nam – President of UD, Mrs. Irène Lejeune - Chairman of the Foundation and Prof. Heinrich Netz - Representative of the Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU) agreed to enter the MOU between the three parties. The MOU promises to open up new opportunities for stakeholders, especially now that UD has been able to execute the mechanism of the National University.

Prof.Dr. Tran Van Nam and Mrs. Irène Lejeune discussed at the meeting

Doctor Phan The Phuoc Long has sent the curriculum for General Medicine and Nursing at the SMP to the LMU representative with a request to receive the support of LMU in developing the standard curriculum for these two programs. Subject to the provisions of the MOU, the SMP is allowed to use the LMU's curriculum and health care program entirely.

The language barrier is the first difficulty in implementing this training program. Students are required to use and listen to lectures in English in most subjects. In order to solve difficulties initially, the SMP recommended to translate some notes related to the lesson in Vietnamese for students to look up and study. In addition, the SMP will promote foreign language training (English and German) and help students obtain international certificates in foreign languages during the first year.

The second difficulty is the difference between the two institutions in terms of pedagogy and assessment throughout the teaching and learning process. Dr. Phan The Phuoc Long proposed to send high qualified faculty from the SMP to LMU to study international standard teaching methods at the university. Furthermore, in order to save costs and time, it is better to invite LMU’s senior lecturers to visit and organize seminars on teaching methods in the medical field at UD to help the SMP’s teachers become familiar with the new pedagogic methods and improve their capacity. The leaders continued to discuss the cooperation possibility of teaching the nursing major between the two universities and providing students with opportunities to go to Germany to complete their advanced studies.

Prof. Tran Van Nam presented souvenir gift to the representative of the Foundation
