The University of Danang welcomed the delegation from Swinburne University of Technology, Australia



As one of the three key regional universities of Vietnam, the University of Danang (UD) aims to become a research-oriented university by 2020. In addition, UD always attaches a special importance to international cooperation activities to establish and improve the cooperative relationship with different universities in the region and around the world.

On February 28, 2018, Prof. Dr. Alex Stojcevski - Dean, School of Software & ElectricalEngineering, Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology,Swinburne University of Technology (SUT) and his colleagues visited and worked with UD. Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology, SUT is a pioneer in the development of innovative solutions for problems in real life. Students who are trained by the Faculty are encouraged to participate in the environment of research and work immediately after graduation.

Established in 1908, SUT has five campuses in Melbourne and one campus in Sarawak, Malaysia, with 55,000 students including 6,700 students coming from more than 100 countries in the world. With different levels from pre-university, undergraduate to postgraduate, SUT has about 24,000 graduate and postgraduate students, in which over 40% are international students. SUT’s curricula combines professional knowledge and practical knowledge, while adhering to the requirements of modern industry, so that students are equipped with comprehensive skills to increase their ability to be recruited after graduation.

Therefore, SUT is recognized as a university with a high proportion of students meeting the high recruitment requirements and received a 4-star rating in the proportion of students who have stable employment after graduation.

For academic achievement, SUT is ranked among the top 400 universities in the world according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings and was in the top 500 of the top universities by QS World University Rankings in 2012. SUT is also among the top 10 universities in Australia and the top three in Melbourne, after the University of Melbourne and Monash University.

Sharing with representatives of International Cooperation Department-UD, Prof. Dr. Alex Stojcevski said that the strategic direction of SUT is to improve the training mission and human resources development in technology, science, engineering, research and invention of innovative solutions ...

Thus, in this meeting, Prof. Dr. Alex Stojcevski proposed to establish a cooperative relationship in scientific research with UD, especially the enrollment of graduate and PhD students. With a research-oriented and practical application program, learners are trained to become high quality human resources to serve for the needs of development of the region and the whole country. In addition, the development of collaborative research will further promote the publication of scientific papers in international journals

At the meeting, M.A. Ho Ngoc Ngoc- Vice Director of International Cooperation Department, UD shared that UD is willing to exchange and share information to promote the bilateral cooperation with SUT, especially the proposed contents of Prof. Dr. Alex Stojcevski because science, technology and engineering are also the training strengths of UD. In addition, Vice Director Ho Ngoc Ngoc also suggested that UD and SUT will cooperate to search for joint research projects to enhance the capacity of scientific research of the two universities.
