On March 20-24, 2018, the University of Danang (UD) led by Prof.Dr.Tran Van Nam – President of UD took part in the Kick-off meeting of Project V2WORK (Strengthening the Vietnamese Higher Education System to improve graduates’ employability and entrepreneurship skills V2WORK).
Project V2WORK was selected by the European Commission with the funding of 976,809 Euros. The duration of the Project is from 2017 to 2020 with 03 participating European universities (University of Alicante – Spain, University of Coimbra – Portugal, and University of Sheffield – the UK), and 11 Vietnamese universities (MOET, VCCI – HCMC, AIESEC, the University of Danang, University of Science and Technology – VNU Hanoi, University of Social Science and Humanities – VNU, HCMC , Nha Trang University, Tay Nguyen University, Tra Vinh University, Thu Dau Mot University, Industrial University of Vinh). UD participated in the Project as a leader of the work package 6 (WP 6): dissemination.
V2WORK aims to strengthen the capacities of the Vietnamese Higher Education system to improve the employability & entrepreneurship skills of its graduates and to reinforce its relationships with the labour market.
The Project’s objectives are to (1) modernise Career Centres of 8 Vietnamese universities by building institutional and human capacities in entrepreneurship and employability skills so they can become efficient and dynamic instruments to promote and support employment and entrepreneurship among university students and graduates; (2) to reinforce University-Enterprise relationships by developing tools and mechanisms to foster active involvement of enterprises in the Career Centres.
Participating in the meeting, UD – a leader of WP 6, made a presentation on objectives, target, expected impact, results & deliverables, duration, partner roles, work flow and work plan, and detailed tasks of the WP.
Ms. Cristina Beans – Coordinator of Project V2WORK presented the overview of the Project, the detailed plan of implementation and the role of each partner. The Project includes 08 work packages: (1) Stakeholder and cotext mapping; (2) Capacity Building; (3) Intitutional Strengthening of CaCes; (4) Pilot Operations of CaCes; (5) Policy and Labour Market Networking for Strategy Development; (6) Dissemination; (7) Quality Assuarance; and (8) Management. The Project is expected to be completed by the end of 2020.
The meeting included the introductory presentations of 14 partners; an introduction on the 08 work packages; a discussion on the plan of the next six months; and a group discussion on issues of employment and entrepreneurship.
Finishing the meeting at the University of Alicante, the delegation moved to the University of Coimbra, Portugal to find out about the operation of the Entrepreneurship Center and listen to the typical reports on successful projects of the University.
