In the framework of official visit to Danang, on the afternoon of 30 October 2012, Canadian Ambassador to Viet Nam, H.E Deborah Chatsis paid a visit to the University of Danang (UD). Assoc.Prof. Doan Quang Vinh, UD’s Vice President warmly welcomed the delegation. Attending in the meeting were also MA. Ho Long Ngoc, Vice Director of International Cooperation Department, Dr. Nguyen Le Hung, Deputy Head of Research – Postgraduate & International Cooperation Office of Danang University of Technology and other relevant officers.
At the meeting, Assoc.Prof. Doan Quang Vinh gave a brief introduction on UD’s organization structure and international cooperation network. In thedevelopment strategy, UDhas alwaysemphasized on expansion offoreignpartnership. However, the number of Canadian partners to UD was still limited. Assoc.Prof. Vinh hoped that Canadian Ambassador's visit this time will serve as a bridge to expand and strengthen cooperative relationships between UD and Canadian partners. Being a major regional university of the country, UD has received a significant consideration and investment from the Government in the human resource development. UD was approved to be the Pre-Doctoral Training Center of the Central region to participate in MOET Project 911, training 20.000 doctors. UD would like to receive the attention and support of Canadian Embassy through recommendation of more Canadian prestigious universities to UD and introduction of Canada Government scholarship programs to UD’s staff in order to promote the project 911 effectively and enhance teaching and research capacity for UD’s faculty and other universities in Central region.
The Ambassador was impressed by the warm welcome of UD. She revealed that the scholarship information of Canada Government is currently published on the website of the Embassy, including Canadian Francophonie Scholarship Program, and Vietnamnationals are eligible to participate inthisprogram.
Assoc.Prof. Vinh expressed his desire that with the assistance of Ambassador, UD will be recommended and involved in the project of human resource development and project of linking Universities - Enterprises of Canada Government.
