On the morning of January 22, 2019, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - President of the University of Danang (UD) chaired the meeting and worked with Babeș-Bolyai University (UBB), Romania led by Prof. Dr. Dan Lazar - Vice Rector. In particular, Prof. Emil Boc - Mayor of Cluj – Napoca City, former Prime Minister of Romania attended the meeting as a Professor of UBB. Attendees of the meeting were representatives of functional departments (R&D, International Cooperation) and International Education School.
Overview of the meeting
Opening the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – UD’s president welcomed Prof. Emil Boc - Mayor of Cluji City - Napoca, former Prime Minister of Romania and Prof. Dr. Dan Lazar - Vice Rector and UBB leadership delegation to visit and work with UD. He expressed his impression of Romania's beautiful city of Cluj being ranked among the top 10 European cities in terms of quality of life and especially ranked 2nd in terms of job opportunities. With a population of about 500,000, Cluj has six public universities with more than 100,000 students. On this occasion, UD’s president thanked UBB's leaders and professors and Cluj, Romania who have always believed, supported and cooperated with UD and highly appreciated the cooperation results between the two sides in the past time, especially in the Erasmus + project, which contributed to promoting cooperation between Eu-Asian universities and believed that the two universities still have much potential to continue cooperation in the coming time. With the similarity of multidisciplinary training with many training programs in English, UD and UBB can promote cooperation and exchange of lecturers, students as well as joint research projects and international conferences organization ... This was also the cooperation content that UD has experienced in implementing effectively with many prestigious universities in Europe and the world.

At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Dan Lazar - Vice Rector of UBB expressed his pleasure to visit and work with UD following the working visits of Professors of UBB (Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anna Sooc - UBB Vice Rector and Dr. Ramona Onciu - Head of Erasmus Project Office in March 2018 and Prof. Dr. Florin Duma - Member of the Executive Board, European Studies and Management Faculty of UBB in April, 2018) in the framework of approved agreements. Prof. Dan Lazar express his thanks to UD's warm reception for the delegation and considered it would be a valuable opportunity for leaders of the two universities to exchange opportunities to strengthen the good cooperation between the two sides.
“The city of Cluj and UBB have had many studies on innovation and developed the "smart city" model” shared Prof. Emil Boc - Cluji Napoca City Mayor. This was also the cooperation direction that the professor proposed to promote cooperation between Cluji City and Da Nang City. On this occasion, Professor expressed that he would actively support the development of cooperation between 02 research-oriented cities and applications to become Smart City through the connection role established between UBB and UD.
Highly appreciating the proposal of Prof. Emil Boc - Mayor of Cluji - Napoca city about the intention to develop a smart city project with Danang city through the bridging role of UD and UBB, president of UD asserted the support, trust and committed to direct relevant departments to act as the focal point to promote the necessary cooperation contents between UD and UBB in this matter.
After the meeting, UD leaders invited and instructed UBB delegation to visit the Maker Space Innovation of UD. The meeting and working ended successfully in the trustful, sincere and friendly atmosphere, opened up many opportunities to raise the cooperation and development relationship between UD and UBB in particular, Danang city and Cluji Napoca city in general during the next time.
With a long tradition, founded in 1581, UBB is a largest university in Romania, provides multidisciplinary training in 05 languages (English, German, Romanian, French and Hungarian) with 14 training programs in English at undergraduate level, 44 training programs in English at graduate level. It is known that Babeș-Bolyai University, Romania is a 560-ranked public university in the world. UBB's strengths are Economics, Computer Science, Communication, Sociology, Environment ... and there are many Vietnamese students studying at UBB.
