The University of Danang established cooperative relations with Shiga Medical University, Japan



On the afternoon of April 9, 2019, the University delegation of Shiga University of Medicine Science (SUMS), Japan was led by Prof. Doctor.Kohei Shiota – PhD, President of SUMS visited and worked at the University of Danang (UD). Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - President of UD, chaired the working session, in addition to the representative of the International Cooperation Department and the School of Medicine and Pharmacy - UD.


Overview of the meeting


At the meeting, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - President of UD warmly welcomed the SUMS mission to visit and work at UD. He gave a brief introduction in outstanding features of UD, one of the three key regional universities with strong training in technology, economics, natural sciences, humanities and social sciences, medicine and foreign languages. With a tradition of nearly 45 years of establishment and development, UD's alumni currently undertake many important positions at agencies, organizations and businesses throughout the provinces and cities of the Central-Highlands region as well as the whole country. President of UD stressed that "On the way of development, UD has always focused on developing international cooperation with universities around the world, in which Japan is considered as a strategic partner of UD."

In recent years, the Government has paid attention and directed to make investment in developing UD to become one of the top three training and research centers of the country. In order to train and improve the quality of the contingent of cadres and experts in the field of medicine and pharmacy to meet the needs of the community health care in the Central-Highland region, UD has established the School of Medicine and Pharmacy over 10 years, there were still many difficulties. This was an opportunity for the two universities to learn about the needs and strengths to establish relationships and development, especially in training and research in medical fields through student exchange, training of trainers and research support

The President of SUMS highly appreciated and acknowledged the wishes and cooperation proposals of the President of UD, completely in accordance with the University's development desire. He proposed that the two sides will promote the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to soon implement lecturer and student exchange activities as well as scientific research for the mutual needs and potential.

The meeting well ended  in the spirit of friendship and cooperation, the leaders of the two universities unanimously assigned the relevant functional units to concretize the needs and proposals so that the two sides could soon sign MOU to meet future development requirements as stated by UD’s President “Hopefully SUMS and UD will become a reliable partner and the cooperation between the two sides will be more and more expanded and developed”.
