The University of Danang is ready to promote its potential and key role in linking human resource development and technological innovation

 

On the morning of March 30, 2019, Danang People's Committee (People's Committee) held a Seminar on "Networking for human resources and science technology development", gathering a large number of delegates and representing leaders of City Party Committee, City People's Committee, departments, agencies, universities, colleges, vocational training institutions, associations, national and international scientists, investors and enterprises. Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - President of the University of Danang (UD) attended the Seminar and delivered an important speech affirming his willingness to promote the potential and key role of UD in linking human resource development and science technology innovation that actively contribute to the implementation of Politburo Resolution No. 43 on Da Nang development in the new period.

Speaking at the plenary session, the Standing Deputy Secretary of Danang Party Committee Vo Cong Tri affirmed that the city always identified human resources as one of the key factors prioritized for development to create competitive advantages in attracting investment and socio-economic development. This Seminar aimed to find solutions to strengthen the linkage between the authorities, educational institutions, organizations and enterprises to develop human resources, promote the integration of scientific research and technology transfer activities at the universities to meet the needs of businesses, contributing to the socio-economic development of the city in the new era.

 

Overview of the Seminar

 

Speaking at the symposium "Science and Technology development networking between training institutions, businesses and Danang City Government", Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – President of UD affirmed the potential of a key regional university, one of the three national prestigious training, scientific research and international cooperation centers located in the city with 12 member institutions and affiliated units; provide training in most key sectors and fields; bring together a team of nearly 2,500 highly qualified scientists and lecturers (nearly 32% of lecturers holding doctorate or higher degree) actively contributing to training human resources and developing science and technology for the city as well as the Central Highlands and the whole country


President of UD proposed many effective solutions to link human resource training & scientific research and technology transfer between "three poles" (State - School - Entrepreneurs), including:

(1) Establishing Science Technology Consortium between UD - Danang City (Department of Science and Technology, Department of Finance, Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, High-Tech Park) and enterprises, associations, organizations to connect supply and demand in training, using human resources and scientific and technological activities;

2) Promoting the potential of UD as a key role in Danang City and Central - Highlands provinces to cooperate in building and criticizing economic development policies and social economic development plan, especially in the process of building "smart city", "entrepreneurship and innovation city", "environmental city", "destinations" of international events;

(3) Coordinating among universities, businesses and departments and agencies to study and forecast the demand for human resources and industries to provide timely and effective, application and transfer of  technology in the key areas of UD such as: New energy, nanotechnology, biotechnology, information technology, electronics - telecommunications, automation, architecture and economy, finance and banking ... to solve practical problems;

(4) Developing innovation and entrepreneurship spaces to create a positive learning environment for students to develop their thinking, quality and professional skills to affirm their position in the regional and international labor market ...

 

Signing of cooperation agreement in scientific and technological research among universities, businesses and state management agencies in the city

 

With a highly qualified team and many research awards, UD has enough potential to express its role of contributing to the city's development.

 

On this occasion, UD signed cooperation agreement on linking scientific and technological research among universities, enterprises and state management agencies in the city. Accordingly, businesses would provide recruitment needs and employment that need training; providing scientific research, product development and technological innovation needs to identify effective scientific and technological tasks, giving feedback and evaluating training programs, participating in teaching, scientific councils and facilitating support for students to do internships, observe workplace to learn the reality of production and management at enterprises; support scientists and students to do research, pilot production and entrepreneurship ... Universities would provide quality human resources, enabling businesses to recruit suitable human resources; update and innovate training programs to meet business needs; nominating officials and lecturers to study visit, participate in researching and implementing research programs and projects at enterprises in order to improve productivity, product quality and competitiveness of enterprises; Cooperate to research, transfer research results and knowledge and new technologies into practice to innovate businesses ... Departments such as the Department of Science and Technology would continue to play the role of "bridge" between universities and businesses and advise city leaders to continue investment resources for science and technology development to truly become the driving force for the sustainable development of the city as well as the universities and the business community in the context of the integration of digital era and globalization.
