At the meeting, the leaders of the two sides introduced an overview of the staff capacity, facilities and potentials for training, scientific research, technology transfer and international cooperation, especially the strengths in spearhead industries and high technology. The two sides shared experiences, results of renovating the structure, operation model and system of administration to constantly promote the role and position of leading scientific research and training institutions, which made many important contributions to the development of the country. The issues of common interest were exchanged, the both sides explored the needs and proposed solutions to develop cooperation opportunities between UD and VINATOM in the coming time, focus on: Enhancing the exchange of lecturers and researchers and hosting students for internship; Collaborating in searching for joint research projects and investment sources to promote research and transfer technology in high-tech fields such as: Nuclear Physics, Radiation Technology and its applications radiation into socio-economic life (irradiation service, manufacture of preparations, environmental protection, health ...)
Cooperating in research and transfer of high technology, including physics - nuclear power which brings many scientific and practical values
At the end of the meeting, the President of UD and VINATOM Director agreed to assign the focal units of each party to promote the implementation of the directions, guidelines and content of cooperation between the two sides in the near future.
Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute (VINATOM), formerly known as Da Lat Nuclear Research Institute, has been a scientific career organization under the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam (since 1993). VINATOM has the role and tasks of basic research, research and application of nuclear science and technology (reactor technology, fuel, nuclear materials, research and development on radiation safety and nuclear technology safety, radioactive waste treatment and management technology...) to serve the national economic development; Formulating policies, directions, strategies, planning for development of Vietnam's atomic energy industry; Participating in research, developing projects and legal documents on atomic energy to advise the Government and implementing the nuclear policies approved by the Government; Coordinating the implementation of international cooperation in the field of atomic energy of Vietnam with other countries and international organizations... VINATOM has PhD training majors such as: Mathematical Physics and Theoretical Physics; Atomic and nuclear physics; Inorganic chemistry; Analytical chemistry; Radioactive chemistry ... VINATOM is implementing the National Program on developing nuclear power with nuclear power plant in Ninh Phuoc district, Ninh Thuan province, expected to operate in the period of 2017-2020 (including 02 units of capacity with each group of 1000 MW, reaching to 2000-4000 MW, which equivalents to the electricity output of 14-28 billion KWh).
