The University of Danang promotes 2020 admission counseling to ensure accurate and timely information for candidates


Recently, the University of Danang (UD) has organized a meeting to thoroughly grasp information and implement the admission task in 2020 under the guidance of the Minister of Education and Training (MOET) at the online conference on university, college admission that took place on May 8.

The meeting which was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thanh Bac, Vice President of UD, drew the participation of leader representatives of the Boards of Rectors, academic offices of member universities, training units under the UD.


Overview of the meeting on the UD’s 2020 admission task


At the meeting, after listening to Dr. Tran Dinh Khoi Quoc – Head of the UD’s Department of Academic Affairs – reported the UD’s results of implementing the university admission in 2020 as well as presented some new key points under the MOET’s newly-issued Admission Regulations, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thanh Bac made a speech and chaired the discussion on admission task in 2020.

Representatives of the Boards of Rectors and academic offices of member universities/training units under the UD then expressed their opinions and exchanged ideas on key issues such as: high school academic record’s review threshold for majors of education and health sciences; regulations on registration for admission by academic records, assessment of candidates’ competency, “virtual application filtering” plan for each admission method, discussion of schedule for admission periods, admission annoucements, organization of gifted subjects examinations,…

Earlier, as in the guidance of President of the UD - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu, the UD had soon published information widely on mass media and the university’s media channels to make candidates and their parents feel secure. Accordingly, the implementation of admission to member universities/units in 2020 “will continue to keep stability, minimize disturbance and ensure admitted students’ quality” with 4 admission methods including:

(1) Direct admission under the MOET’s Admissions Regulations and universities’ own admission schemes which will expand the subjects of direct admission;

(2) Admission which is based on the results of the National High School Examination 2020;

(3) Admission which is based on the results of the Competency Assessment Examination that will be jointly organized by the Vietnam National University – HCMC and the University of Danang);

(4) Admission which is based on high school academic records, the subjects’ scores in the admission subjects combinations are the average of grade 10, 11 and the 1st semester of grade 12 (5 semesters).

Member universities/units of the UD – depending on their training characteristics – will soon announce and allocate the admission criteria of each admission method for each major in May 2020. For the majors of Architecture, Music Education, Preschool Education, Physical Education, the UD will organize gifted subjects examinations to get admission results.

The fact that the UD fixed the 4 admission methods aims to create favorable conditions for candidates to fully and timely get information, thereby contributing to ensuring the best preparation to achieve the expected scores in the 2020 admission.

In addition to the previous years’ regular types of admission counseling, this year’s remarkable new point is that the member universities/units have taken a number of creative and effective forms which are focusing on strengthening communication task, online counseling; using information technology and social media with many communication products that are highly recognized and appreciated by candidates and society.
