On June 11, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son – Vice President of the University of Danang (UD) hosted Mrs. Ouidad Tebba – Regional Director of the Francophone Universities Association (AUF) in Asia – Pacific region, and Mr. Nguyen Thanh Ha – Director of the International Cooperation Department under the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS).
The meeting also drew the attendance of leader representatives of some functional departments and member units of the UD.
Overview of the meeting.
At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son welcomed the leaders of the AUF and the VASS to visit the UD, discuss and develop cooperation opportunities. The UD’s Vice President introduced highlights of the UD which is a key regional university, a nationally and internationally-recognized center for training, scientific research and international cooperation. The UD has relationships with many scientific and educational organizations in the world, including the AUF which is important partner with traditional and close relationships. The Vice President also hoped that all sides’ leaders continue nurturing and promoting the friendship and cooperation for the common good to continue developing sustainably and effectively.

For her part, Mrs. Ouidad Tebba acknowledged and appreciated the fruitful and close-knit cooperation between the AUF and the UD. Accordingly, the university has always been an important member and strategic partner of the AUF for many years. In particular, the Regional Director of AUF Asia – Pacific congratulated the UD for the recent grant for its University of Science and Technology’s invention project of BK-Anticovid Robot which is used to serve patients in hospital isolation areas.
The UD’s project (surpassing nearly 2,000 initiatives and projects from 79 countries) was among 4 Vietnamese projects that were highly appreciated by the AUF and the community for practical and scientific meanings in prevention and fighting against the Covid-19 pandemic. The project showed the prestige and potentials of the UD’s scientists and lecturers.

In addition, Mrs. Ouidad Tebba highly evaluated the dynamism of the UD’s member universities in implementing online training methods to adapt to the Covid 19-affected context, which would be a good example that the UD can share with other AUF members.
The Regional Director of AUF Asia – Pacific shared the orientation of the AUF in the coming time to strengthen the network between the AUF’s member universities in the Central region with the VASS. Mrs. Ouidad Tebba asked the UD’s leaders to support member universities to join the AUF’s Distance Learning Project to facilitate the potentials and strengths in innovation, diversification of training methods as well as enhance the connection and application of 4.0 technology to develop education in the digital age.

On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son proposed that the AUF continues supporting the UD to develop relationships with French partners, thereby connecting with more prestigious international scientists, scholars and businessmen in training and research cooperation. The Vice President of the UD also asked the AUF to continue paying attention to the introduction of volunteer French native-speaking lecturers, experts to the UD to teach the French language.
