Receiving professors from Peking University and Tsinghua University, China

 

On January 28th 2013, the President of the University of Danang, Assoc.Prof. Tran Van Nam warmly received the professors from Peking University (PU) and Tsinghua University (TU), China. At the meeting, there was presence of Assoc. Prof. Vo Trung Hung, Head of Science-Technology-Environment Department, Dr. Hoang Hai, Director of International Cooperation department, Prof. Nguyen The Hung, lecturer from Hydropower-Irrigation Faculty, Prof. Le Huu Ti - UD’s visiting lecturer and other officers involved.

 

 

Assoc.Prof. Tran Van Nam expressed his sincere thanks to the delegation for their working visit to UD. Mr. President highlighted the areas where the two sides can do joint research as environmental and coastal management, water resource management, water security, the areas attracting special concern from Danang City, Vietnam in particular, Asian countries and the world in general.

 

 

Professor Du Pengfei gave a brief introduction on Tsinghua University, one of China's top universities in the field of training and scientific research. Tsinghua University has a staff of more than 5,000 lecturers, researchers and administrative staff, with more than 28,000 students, out of which around 15,000 Masters and PhD students. At the same time Professor Du Pengfei also emphasized his introduction on Asia-Pacific Center for Water Security (APCWS) located at Tsinghua University, an international research center funded by ADB. The main activities of the Center focus on building Research Network on water resources; organizing international workshops, building website and databases to support research; arranging Peer Review Journal (publishing water security issues related to water resources).

 

PGS.Dr Vo Trung Hung suggested the two sides can promote signing MOU at levels: faculty level and school level, between research centers of each institution or between UD with PU and TU. The content of MOU will focus on the following issues: exchange of faculty and students; receiving postgraduate students under Program 911; collaborative research and Sandwich programs.

 

 

The two sides agreed to exchange by email about specific matters and content of the MOU to be signed soon to promote scientific cooperation between UD and APCWS that Professors Du Pengfei and Xialiu Yang all are deputy directors. UD’s president would like Professor Le Huu Ti to continue his role as a bridge to promote cooperation between UD with the Peking University and Tsinghua University.
