In the afternoon of May, 22nd 2013, The University of Danang (UD) welcomed the delegation of Lakehead University (LU), Canada, led by Dr. J.R. Stevenson, President and Vice – Chancellor, Professor, Faculty of Business Administration together with Ms. Nguyen Huynh Thanh Ngoc, Manager, Communications – Canadian Education International - Vietnam. At UD’ side, there were Assoc. Prof. Tran Van Nam, President of UD, Dr. Hoang Hai, Director of International Cooperation Department and other relevant officers.
In the meeting, Dr. Hoang Hai briefly introduced about framework of organization as well as training programs of all member universities of the University of Danang. Especially, Dr. Hoang Hai also presented research cooperation programs that have been conducted between UD and other foreign universities.
Responding to the question of Assoc. Prof. Tran Van Nam about framework of organization and training program at LU, Dr. J.R. Stevensonbriefly introduced about LU through a video and attached brochure. It is known that LU is a comprehensive institution with a reputation for innovative programs and cutting – edge research. With campuses located in Thunder Bay and Orillia, Ontario. The students of LU is about more than 8.700. Among them, there are over 100 international students from 35 countries. Especially, both the Thunder Bay and Orillia campuses offer small class sizes, which encourage communication between students and faculty. Besides, Dr. J.R. Stevenson also shared proudly that LU has not only a lot of cooperative programs with different foreign universities in the world but also services for international students in living and studying at LU in Canada. Especially, Dr. J.R. Stevenson briefly introduced about scholarships as well as the total tuition fees for international students. Finally, Dr. J.R. Stevenson expressed that LU is willing to cooperate with UD through research cooperation programs, students and lecturers exchange programs between UD ( 8 member universities of UD) and LU.
Assoc. Prof. Tran Van Nam acknowledged teaching and research proposals of Dr. J.R. Stevenson. In addition, he also hoped that LU will support tuition fee, subsistence fee for UD’s students and lecturers in living and studying at LU.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. J.R. Stevenson expressed his thanks to UDfor the warm welcome and hopes that cooperation programs in training and scientific research between the two universities will develop more than ever before.
