The ambassador of Italy to Vietnam visited and worked with the University of Danang

On the occasion of visiting Danang city on August 22nd 2013, Mr. Lorenzo Angeloni – Ambassador of Italy to Vietnam and Ms. Tran Hong Hanh – Head of Uni-Italia Centre in Vietnam visited and worked with Assoc. Prof. Tran Van Nam – President of the University of Danang (UD).

 

 

At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Tran Van Nam briefly introduced about framework of organization as well as international cooperation network of UD. In UD’s development strategy, UD always attaches special importance to widening the cooperation relationship with foreign partners, especially partners from Europe such as France, UK...However, the cooperation relationship between UD and Italian universities is still limited. Now, there are only 2 UD’s doctoral students are studying in Italy. Therefore, UD’s president expressed his desire that Mr. Lorenzo Angeloni - Ambassador of Italy to Vietnam will be a bridge to link the cooperation in scientific technology, culture, society... between UD and other universities in Italy. In addition, UD can not only send doctoral students to study at Italian universities through scholarships of Italian Government or Vietnamese Government but also co-research in the field of scientific technology and cooperate with Italian universities to exchange undergraduate and graduate students. Moreover, the two parties can cooperate in different training programs in accordance with the model of  2+2 or 3+1...

 

Responding to the question of Assoc. Prof. Tran Van Nam, Mr. Lorenzo Angeloni expressed his love to Danang city – a potential city of economic and cultural development. During his business time in Vietnam, he recognizes a lot of similarities between Italy and Vietnam. It is an advantageous point in order that these two parties can carry out bilateral cooperation relationships, among them, cooperation in education is always first priority. It is known that most of Italian universities specialize in training architecture, art, design, mechanics and needs to internationalize universities is being carried out strongly in Italy. Italian Government has decided to choose Vietnam is one of the first 4 countries having the representative office of Uni-Italia  Centre because Vietnam takes an important role in ASEAN in particular and Asia in general. The chief responsibility of this office is promoting the cooperation relationship between Italian universities and other countries in the world in order to attract international students to study and do research in Italy.

 

      

 

Through the meeting, Mr. Lorenzo Angeloni acknowledged teaching and research proposals by Assoc. Prof. Tran Van Nam and expressed his desire to establish the Italian Language Department at University of Foreign Language Studies – UD in order to build a new training program for UD as well as prepare language for UD’s students who want to study in Italy. According to Ms. Tran Hong Hanh, students will study only one year (500-600 hours) then they can get Italian B1 certificate and continue to study at any universities in Italy. Besides, some Italian universities have pre - university programs lasting 1 year for international students.

Assoc.Prof. Tran Van Nam appreciated proposals by Mr. Lorenzo Angeloni and expressed his willingness to cooperate to establish the Italian language department at University of Foreign Language Studies – UD as well as build the Uni-Italia Corner at UD with the aim of being a mediate bridge between the representative office in Hanoi and Central area of Vietnam. Mr. Lorenzo Angeloni and Ms. Tran Hong Hanh also promised to implement these proposals.

 

          

 

At the end of the meeting, Mr. Lorenzo Angeloni expressed his thanks to UD for the warm welcome.
