The University of Danang hosted the National Scientific Conference on “Innnovating education and training for the goal of sustainable development”

On December 28, the University of Danang (UD) in collaboration with the Committee on Education and Human Resource Development – National Council for Sustainable Development and Competitiveness Enhancement hosted the National Scientific Conference on “Innovating education and training for the goal of sustainable development”.

Overview of the conference.

The conference attracted the attendance of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Phuc – Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), Vice Chairman of the Committee on Education and Human Resource Development; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luu Bich Ngoc – Chief of the Committee’s Office; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – President of the UD.

There were also members of the Committee on Education and Human Resource Development, leader representatives of the MOET’s functional departments (Primary Education, Secondary Education), representatives of provincial and municipal departments of education and training, educational institutions as well as educational experts.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of the MOET Nguyen Van Phuc highlighted the roles and significances of education – training to the sustainable development goals. Accordingly, he emphasized in the context that the country is in the process of innovation, development and integration, Vietnam not only needs to achieve socio – economic development and environmental protection goals but also pays attention to innovation in education – training towards the goals of sustainable development.

The Deputy Minister expected that the conference would be an opportunity to gather ideas and lessons from theory, scientific research and practice on the issue of education and training innovation associated with sustainable development goals. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Phuc stressed that higher education institutions must be venues to express and realize the orientations, policies of the Party and the State on this issue.

For his part, the UD’s President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu highlighted the important and comprehensive achievements of the UD in the past year.

The UD has actively responded to the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic and recent natural disasters, implemented online teaching – learning methods to ensure training’s progress and quality, promptly research and invent several useful scientific and technological products to join hands with the community during the fight against the global dangerous pandemic.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu emphasized that the above-mentioned achievements are the results of the application of university governance innovation which is clearly stated in theme of 2020: “The year of university governance innovation towards professionalism, cooperation and effectiveness”.

The conference’s participants listened to the thematic reports of experts, scientists, management officials on sustainable development goals’s educational aspects such as: innovating the content and methods of general education to improve education’s quality, innovating tertiary education to contribute to building high-quality human resources, etc.
