The University of Danang’s students were honored to receive scholarships from the JFE Steel Corporation (Japan)

On January 15, 2021, the University of Danang (UD) in collaboration with the JFE Steel Corporation (Japan) held the Scholarship Presentation Ceremony for the UD’s students.

The ceremony drew the attendance of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son – Vice President of the UD, Mr. Yakabe Yoshinori – Head of the Japanese Consulate Office in Danang, Mr. Isao Fukushima – Director General of the JFE Steel Corporation in Vietnam, Dr. Takuya Murakam – Director General of the JFE Steel Corporation’s Research Institute.

Attending the ceremony were leader representatives from the UD’s functional departments (International Cooperation, Student Affairs, Administrative Affairs), member universities and scholarship recipients.

Speaking at the ceremony, the UD’s Vice President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son acknowledged and thanked the JFE Steel Corporation (Japan) for its valuable support, especially in the context that world economy is being heavily affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The UD’s Vice President expressed his wish that in the coming time, the JFE Steel Corporation would continue to pay attention to and expand the cooperation with the UD in general, its University of Science and Technology in particular, which creates opportunities for students to do internship, work, or receive scholarships.

Mr. Yakabe Yoshinori - Head of the Japanese Consulate Office in Danang - highly appreciated the UD’s mission of human resources training, at the same time stressed that the JFE Steel Corporation’s scholarship not only reflects human values and social responsibility but also contributes to promoting cooperation and investment of Japanese enterprises in Vietnam, especially in Danang and the Central region.

For his part, Mr. Isao Fukushima – Director General of the JFE Steel Corporation in Vietnam, expressed his joy when presenting scholarships to students, thereby helping these students to overcome difficulties in study and life, especially to become the “bridge” for the good relationship between the UD and the enterprise as well as between Vietnam – Japan.

At the ceremony, leader representatives of the JFE Steel Corporation and the UD awarded 8 scholarships (4 full ones worth 12,500,000 million VND/each and 4 partial ones worth 6,200,000 million VND/each) to students majoring in architecture, construction engineering, and Japanese language.
