Foreword

The University of Danang (UD), with its mission not only to provide high-quality human resource training but also to foster the holistic development of individuals, has always recognized that both physical and mental health are the core foundations of all its activities. This report presents UD’s efforts and achievements in implementing Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3) - Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. We deeply acknowledge that a healthy academic community is the essential prerequisite for creativity, research, and meaningful contributions to society. UD is strongly committed to realizing the specific objectives of SDG 3 - from promoting physical and mental health care to preventing diseases and building a safe, healthy living and learning environment. The scope of this report covers all activities related to the health and well-being of students, staff, faculty, and the wider community. The data used in this report are based on surveys, internal assessments, and programs implemented during the past year. This report stands as clear evidence of UD’s contribution to the collective journey toward a healthier generation and a sustainable society.

Indicator 3.3.2: Health Outreach Programmes

 The University of Danang plays a crucial role in promoting social responsibility and community well-being as a regional, multidisciplinary institution. While its primary focus is on providing quality education, UD also actively participates in various social initiatives and collaborative projects that aim to improve health, enhance community welfare, and support sustainable development in Central Vietnam and nationwide. The Trade union, Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, and Student Association are key players in delivering outreach programs and projects that promote health and well-being. These initiatives cover a wide range of topics, including hygiene, nutrition, family planning, sports, exercise, aging well, and other related issues.

***** Health outreach programmes and projects for local communities

The Youth Union of UD provided free medical check-ups and medicines to residents in Dai Chanh Commune, Dai Loc District, Quang Nam Province.

The School of Medicine and Pharmacy and the Medical Center of UD offer a range of medical examination and community health care services, including eye examinations, free glasses, cardiovascular disease screenings, and obstetrics and gynecology consultations.

Students of the University of Economics-the UD conducted drowning prevention training and donated 30 life jackets to children in Hoa Phu Commune under the 2024 “Green Summer” Volunteer Campaign.

 

The Youth Union of the University of Education-the UD organized cultural enrichment and training sessions in swimming and martial arts for students in Lien Chieu District.

***** Health outreach programmes and projects for disadvantaged people

Volunteer Blood Donation Program and Support for Vulnerable Groups, War Veterans, and People with Meritorious Services to the Revolution

· Donated 5,000,000 VND to the Blind Association of Hai Chau District.

· Provided 49,000,000 VND to set up a study corner for a student in Hoa Vang District.

· Raised 300,000,000 VND to support 100 disadvantaged students of UD

· Contributed 50,000,000 VND to military personnel and the education sector of Truong Sa Island District.

· Donated 5,000,000 VND to victims of landmines on the occasion of July 27.

· Provided 60,000,000 VND to support sustainable livelihoods of poor households in Hai Chau District.

· Donated 30,000,000 VND to various humanitarian organizations.

· Contributed 120,000,000 VND to the Fund for the Poor.

· Paid visits to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and the K20 Memorial House.

· Renovated houses for relatives of martyrs and Heroic Mother Do Thi Doan.

· Paid visits to the family of Heroic Mother Phung Thi Thuy …

The Youth Union visited and presented gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the Armed Forces, veteran Youth Volunteers, and families who are eligible for preferential social policies.

The Youth Union of the University of Science and Technology constructed 10 septic toilets for disadvantaged households in A Ngo Commune, Dakrong District, Quang Tri Province.

Supported the Education Sector and local communities in Northern provinces affected by storms and floods

· Contributed 500,000,000 VND to the Education Sector through the Vietnam Education Trade Union.

· Provided support to Lang Son Province through the Vietnam Education Trade Union via the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) as the official coordinating channel 100,000,000 VND.

· Support through the Vietnam Fatherland Front channel of Danang City 305,123,562 VND.

In 2024, University of Science and Technology-UD made a donation of 183,220,000 VND to people affected by storm Yagi as part of their relief efforts

 

Conclusion

In 2024, UD achieved remarkable results across various dimensions, contributing to improving the quality of life and well-being of every member within its community. Programs and projects promoting physical health and mental wellness have become an integral part of the university’s ecosystem, fostering a supportive and holistic learning and working environment. UD remains firmly committed to sustaining and further advancing initiatives that promote health and happiness. Health is not merely the absence of disease but a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being-the noble goal to which we continuously aspire. Through persistent efforts, UD takes pride in contributing to the enhancement of health and well-being, thereby realizing the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within its own community.
