The University of Danang (UD) - one of Vietnam’s leading regional higher education institutions - is a driving force for innovation, knowledge and development in Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands.

Founded in 1994 by the Government of Vietnam, UD builds on more than 30 years of development and a proud legacy of more than five decades of academic tradition inherited from its founding institutions. Over the years, UD has evolved into a comprehensive, multidisciplinary university system dedicated to excellence in education, research and community engagement. Hundreds of thousands of its graduates – including skilled professionals, managers and experts - have gone on to make significant contributions to the advancement of the region and the nation as a whole.

UD is home to six member universities, including the University of Science and Technology, the University of Economics, the University of Science and Education, the University of Foreign Language Studies, the University of Technology and Education and the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communications Technology. In addition, UD also operates affiliated campuses such as the School of Medicine and Pharmacy, UD Campus in Kon Tum, the Vietnam-UK Institute for Research and Executive Education (VNUK), the Danang International Institute of Technology (DNIIT), the Faculty of Physical Education, the Center for Defense and Security Education and other specialized training and research centers.

Strategically located in Da Nang City - the heart of Central Vietnam and the gateway to UNESCO-recognized World Heritage Sites (Phong Nha-Ke Bang, Hue Monuments Complex, Hoi An Ancient Town, My Son Sanctuary and Marble Mountains) - UD attracts a large number of excellent students from across the country and abroad.

UD boasts nearly 2,600 academic and administrative staff, with almost 50% holding doctoral degrees. A majority of its faculty have received advanced training in leading countries around the world, contributing to a strong international perspective in its teaching and research. UD also welcomes international experts and volunteers who enrich its academic environment. With over 60,000 full-time students, including those from more than 20 countries, UD ranks as one of the largest universities in Vietnam in terms of enrollment.

UD offers a comprehensive range of academic programs to meet the evolving needs of localities, industries, and learners, including 135 undergraduate’s, 49 master’s, and 29 doctoral programs.

Quality assurance is at the heart of UD’s mission. Numerous programs have been accredited by both national and international bodies such as AUN-QA (Southeast Asia), CTI (France), ASIIN (Germany), and HCERES (Europe). With its 100 programs nationally and internationally accredited, UD is consistently recognized among the top Vietnamese universities for quality assurance.

In the field of research and innovation, UD fosters vibrant interdisciplinary research communities (Teaching Research Team - TRT) and publishes over 500 international publications annually in high-impact journals (WoS/Scopus). The UD Journal of Science and Technology is also integrated with various international academic databases, contributing to global scholarly exchange. In addition, UD actively nurtures close partnerships with local governments, corporations, and organizations both in Vietnam and abroad to promote applied research, technology transfer, and innovation to serve the region’s and the nation’s development goals.

UD’s international outreach is extensive and growing. UD strengthens an extensive global network with over 250 partner universities and institutions from the United States, Japan, France, Germany, the UK, South Korea, Australia and many other countries. UD serves as a hub for high-profile international academic events and conferences, promoting global dialogue and collaboration.

UD is proud to be the first non-European member of the Ulysseus European University Alliance, and an active member of AUF, AUN, ASEA-UNINET, and UMAP. UD also proactively involved in major international projects such as PHER, Erasmus+, DIGITAL MOVE, V2WORK, and HARMONY.

Recognized among the top universities in Vietnam and Asia (Top 3 by uniRank, Top 8 by Webometrics, and Top 400 in Asia by QS), UD is constantly expanding its impact at both the national and regional levels.
