The University of Da Nang: Breakthroughs for Sustainable Development

In 2025, The University of Danang (UD) achieved numerous significant and comprehensive milestones. These accomplishments represent a breakthrough for sustainable development, affirming its prestige and leading brand identity while reaching international standards. These efforts contribute to the successful implementation of the Politburo's key directives, specifically: Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in education and training development;  Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation.

UD continued to experience a successful undergraduate admission season in 2025, welcoming over 17,000 new students for the first time. The quality of the intake remains high, with admission scores for many disciplines ranking among the nation’s top tier. UD  proactively and promptly introduced new fields/programs to meet the needs of society and learners, such as Semiconductor Chips, Nuclear Power, Metro Railways, Financial Technology, Artificial Intelligence, and more. This achievement further affirms UD's reputation as a trusted choice for students and parents.

In particular, UD is accelerating the development of full-time and partial training programs taught in English. The university has also taken a pioneering role in the University-Enterprise Alliance, focusing on training, research, and the supply of high-quality human resources for the Semiconductor Chip industry.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Hieu, Rector of University of Science and Technology (DUT) - UD, the university has been tasked with leading the Central Vietnam AI and Semiconductor Technology Networkto nurture Industry 4.0 talents. Furthermore, the university is an active participant in networks dedicated to new materials; construction technology; smart technology and advanced infrastructure; renewable energy and hydrogen; as well as biotechnology and agriculture.

The conditions for ensuring educational quality are constantly being enhanced. To date, UD has 123 training programs that have been accredited and meet both national and international standards. Notably, UD is among the top universities in Vietnam with the highest number of internationally accredited programs, totaling 68 programs.

A representative from the UD Department of Academic Affairs and Educational Quality Assurance shared that UD - DUT has successfully achieved the European quality standard (HCERES) for its second cycle (2024 - 2029).

UD has recently added 2 new Professors, 28 new Associate Professors, and 80 newly awarded PhDs. Among them, UD - DUT boasts the highest percentage of faculty members holding a PhD or higher within UD, reaching over 70%, while the UD - UED recorded the most significant increase compared to the previous year, achieving over 67%. This serves as a solid foundation and valuable resource for sustainable development.

With a tradition of over 30 years of establishment and inheriting 50 years of experience in high-quality human resource training from its member universities, UD continues to demonstrate great effort and high determination. The university is committed to successfully implementing its Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2045.

UD is striving to realize the aspiration of becoming the Vietnam National University of Da Nang, in the spirit of Resolution No. 26-NQ/TW and Conclusion No. 79-KL/TW of the Politburo. This transition aims to position the university as a pioneer in innovation and a core pillar of the national higher education system during international integration.
