Da Nang Newspaper: Conclusion No. 79-KL/TW - New driving force for Da Nang City to continue developing to become a high-quality human resource training center

The University of Danang (UD) currently has about 55.000 full-time students and 800 international students; Pioneering in opening high-quality training programs. This is a high-quality human resource supplying the labor market in many key fields, making important contributions to the development of the city in particular, the Central area – Western Highlands region, and the whole country in general.

Conclusion No. 79 of the Politburo continued to affirm and clearly state the development orientation of UD into a National University

Stay ahead of market trends

UD’s member universities pioneered opening or adjusting training programs to meet social needs and adapt to the human resource needs of the Industrial Revolution 4.0. Currently, UD- University of Technology and Education (UD-UTE) has a training scale of more than 6,000 students.

Each year, there are more than 1,000  graduates who are engineers, architectures, bachelors in fields of engineering technology and technical education, contributing to providing high-quality human resources for the labor market not only in Da Nang City but also for other localities in the country, including several high-qualified graduates to participate in the regional and international labor market.

In recent years, the enrollment process in Information Technology; Automotive engineering technology; Control and automation engineering technology; and Mechatronics engineering technology have a highly competitive ratio, from 1:6 to 1:10. These are all social sectors with high demand, meeting scientific and technological development requirements.

UD stays ahead of the trend and meets social needs

“In addition to improving training quality and deploying majors to stay ahead of market trends, UD-UTE focuses on strengthening international cooperation activities with foreign schools, institutes, and businesses to gradually contribute to improving the quality of training and scientific research. Through these cooperative activities, UD-UTE not only creates conditions for students to have the opportunity to participate in experiential activities abroad but also welcomes international students from France, Thailand, Romania … to UD-UTE to participate in professional internship" shared Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Cao Tho, Rector of UD-UTE

UD is a pioneer in training semiconductor IC

Meanwhile, it is forecasted that the Financial Technology (Fintech) sector will have a scarcity of high-quality human resources as Fintech Companies in Vietnam are growing rapidly (from 44 companies in 2017 to 131 companies in 2020). Particularly for Da Nang, the project "Building Da Nang City into a Regional Financial Center" identifies Fintech as an important component in forming and developing a financial center. This is considered an important "push", promoting and creating favorable conditions for the formation and development of Fintech Companies in particular, and the Fintech ecosystem in general in the city. Therefore, from the enrollment season of the 2022-2023 school year, UD - University of Economics has opened a new Financial Technology (Fintech) major.

UD has Information Technology and AI majors

It is forecasted that in the next 5 years, the total demand for human resources in the semiconductor IC will be about 20,000 people and in the next 10 years there will be 50,000 people with undergraduate degrees or higher. To meet the needs of human resources in the future, in 2024, 03 UD’s member universities with tradition, experience, and potential in training engineering and technology fields are UD-University of Science and Technology, UD- Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology, UD-DUT opened a new major in Circuit Design, enrolling about 200 students.

UD directed UD’s member universities to actively and dynamically connect with reputable partners such as Cadence Group, Synopsys Company, Tresemi Organization (Silicon Valley) of the United States... and domestic and international experts to open quick training courses for lecturers and students in nearby fields, meeting the supply and demand of semiconductor IC human resources.
