Enhancing the quality of highly qualified human resource training is a key issue that UD’s member universities are concerned about, in order to meet the demands of the labor market. This is also the core foundation to affirm the reputation, requiring higher education institutions to implement solutions that align with the new circumstances.

Strong Investment in Infrastructure

For many years, UD’s member universities have been striving to enhance the quality of education and adapt to common trends. UD- University of Science and Technology (UD-DUT) currently has 14 faculties offering 15 doctoral programs, 17 master's programs, and 39 undergraduate programs. The annual enrollment target is about 4,000 students across various levels of education, with a training scale of approximately 16,000 students.

In addition to the invested infrastructure, UD-DUT has launched the DUT Maker Innovation Space and the IC Design Lab; a Cybersecurity Research Room to support training and research in the field of information safety and security for the Faculty of Information Technology this year... These projects have been sponsored by business partners to enhance the facilities and utilities aimed at improving the quality of education and scientific research for students and trainees.

 

UD-DUT collaborates with businesses to enhance practical training equipment

 

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Hieu, UD-DUT’s Rector, alongside various amenities, UD-DUT is improving the quality of its teaching staff; streamlining the curriculum to enhance student capabilities; increasing practical training, and applying knowledge to real-world situations. The academic programs are designed based on training programs from advanced countries around the world that have been accredited by international accreditation organizations; teaching is organized according to a "project-based learning" model, helping students meet standards in knowledge, problem-solving skills, critical thinking, creativity, as well as communication and teamwork. Thanks to proactive and innovative training methods, the demand for graduates in UD-DUT’s training fields remains high, with an average employment rate of 98% for graduates within one year.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Van Huy, Rector of UD-DUE, shared that UD-DUE recognizes the crucial role of training digital human resources in enhancing the quality of education and meeting labor market demands. Therefore, UD-DUE focuses on integrating technology and interdisciplinary knowledge into its curricula, developing practical skills through real-world projects, and emphasizing career-oriented training while fostering soft skills for students.

Since 2012, UD-DUE has made significant investments in information technology infrastructure and digital databases, upgrading management systems and equipment for online learning. Starting from the second semester of the 2023-2024 academic year, UD-DUE will implement a blended learning model that combines in-person classroom instruction with online learning through the Study-Arts platform. Additionally, the university is building and upgrading its practical training facilities, equipping them with high-performance computers, specialized software, and high-speed network systems, enabling students to practice digital skills related to programming, big data analysis, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.

“UD-DUE has just inaugurated the DUE-MB Digital Hub, which includes a learning space, multimedia technology seminar space, exchange area, and smart digital banking space with a broadband technical infrastructure to support the learning and scientific research of UD-DUE’s staff and students,” said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Van Huy.

 

Adding new majors in line with trends

In addition to investing in infrastructure and teaching equipment, UD-DUE has quickly grasped trends, focusing on developing new interdisciplinary majors that align with the market. In response to the increasing digitization in the fields of economics, finance, and management, in 2024, UD-DUE has established majors in Digital Business, E-commerce, Data Science and Business Analytics, Financial Technology, Digital Marketing, Management Information Systems, and Information Technology to enroll students, with a high admission rate.

Pioneer in training high-quality human resources in Financial Technology

Similarly, UD-DUT also closely follows science and technology development trends and labor market requirements to open new corresponding training programs. UD-DUT focuses on key, high-tech industries, meeting the requirements of high-quality human resources of information technology, specializing in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, and Mechanical Engineering specializing in Mechanical Aviation, computer engineering, automobile engineering, majoring in biotechnology and medicine in the biotechnology industry...

In particular, facing the urgent need to train human resources for packaging and testing semiconductor circuits (ATP), which is drawing special attention from the city. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Le Hung, Rector of UD- University of Technology and Education (UD-UTE), said that with the orientation of developing into a center connecting human resources training for packaging and testing semiconductor circuits, from 2023 UD-UTE has deployed content on preparing to invest in a semiconductor chip laboratory and opening a semiconductor chip major, to meet the new needs of the labor market.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu, UD President, recently, UD has implemented many orientations and strategies to improve the training quality through innovating university governance; innovating training programs, teaching methods, scientific research activities, innovation, and enhancing digital technology skills in training programs so that graduates can adapt to the new working environment. Besides, UD also expands international cooperation to exchange lecturers and students; and promote cooperation with businesses, ensuring a close the alignment between training and the practical needs of the labor market.
