Series of events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the United Kingdom – Vietnam diplomatic relations

On 17 October, on the occasion of celebrating the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United Kingdom (11th September, 1973 – 11th September, 2023), at Novotel Hotel, the University of Danang (UD) in collaboration with the British Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City organized the workshop “Sharing experiences and needs in higher education between Vietnam and the UK”.

There was the attendance of Mr. Sam Wood – British Deputy Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son – Vice President of the UD, leader representatives from agencies and organizations, administrators and lecturers from the UD’s functional departments, member universities and affiliated units.

In his welcome remarks at the workshop, the UD’s Vice President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son respectfully thanked and welcomed the participants who are leaders, managers, experts, lecturers from the UK and Vietnam.

Vice President Le Quang Son highly appreciated the significance of the workshop to celebrate the anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries.

He stressed that this is a good opportunity for relevant parties to exchange, share experiences and strengthen cooperation, as well as propose ideas and solutions for the development and integration of higher education.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son reviewed the milestones in the cooperation with many British partners such as: British Council, Aston University, University of the West of England, University of Portsmouth, Nottingham Trent University, Coventry University, etc.

In the coming time, the UD hopes to continue receiving attention, support and companionship of British agencies, organizations, universities in implementing cooperation orientations for sustainable development.

On the same day, VNUK Institute for Research and Executive Education – UD coordinated with the British Embassy in Vietnam and the British Consulate General in HCMC to organize the event “UK Education Roadshow”.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Nguyen Thi My Huong – Dean of VNUK Institute, expressed her joy and shared the achievements of her institute. VNUK Institute will continue to be a destination, a proof for successful cooperation between the UD and British partners, thereby providing opportunities, a learning environment for students to become global citizens.

Also on this occasion, VNUK Institute and its partners hosted a discussion with the topic “Access to British education, Chevening scholarships, necessary professional skills and competencies, job opportunities at technology companies in the UK”.
