Students do the internships and graduation projects abroad: Opportunities to become global citizen

Programme de Formation d’ Ingénieurs d’ Excellence au Vietnam (PFIEV)-Excellence Engineers Training Program in Vietnam of the University of Science and Technology-The University of Danang (UD) has 6 students who were sponsored by prestigious universities and businesses in France and Canada to do the internships and graduation projects according to the Capstone Project method (the topic of solving problems from the practice of enterprises).

Among the students who have been interning abroad this time, there were 02 students who intern and work at La Soget Company (Le Havre, France), 02 students at Polytech Marseille (France), 01 student at Grenoble INP (France), and 01 student at the University of Montréal (Canada). All students were fully funded and paid during their internship and Capstone Project.

Notably, two students Tran Van Vu and Tran Nguyen Hoang (Grade 16 PFIEV3), who thanked to their excellent study and research results during their training at University of Science and Technology-UD, were awarded a master's scholarship in France and Canada after the internships and graduation.

Dr. Le Quoc Huy, Head of the University's PFIEV program, said: “The policy of promoting cooperation with domestic and international businesses helps students have the opportunity to practice and do Capstone Project, which had been focused by PFIEV and the University on active implementation in the past time in order to bring opportunities to practice and develop capacity for students to improve the quality of training”.

PFEIV students were recommended by the Faculty and the University to partner enterprises so that they could select the typical students like those mentioned above to Logi-France or La Soget companies (France) as examples, Mr. Huy said.

In addition to the knowledge, skills and practical experience gained, students selected to participate in the Program were also paid a satisfactory salary by businesses (15-26 million VND/ month), and at the same time were intrusted by excellent lecturers of the University and experts from business partners.

By experiencing whether directly or working online (due to the impact of COVID-19 pandemic), students accumulated experience working in a professional, modern environment and improved their foreign language skills, learned more about the country, culture and people such as France in Europe or Canada in North America.

Up to now, the PFIEV program of University of Science and Technology-UD has had nearly 80 students practicing and doing graduation projects abroad. If students have high foreign language ability (English or French) and meet the requirements, the chances of being recruited to intern and work for international enterprises will be much higher.
