Students of Vietnam – Korea University of Information Technology and Communication – The University of Danang with the start-up idea of a pepper e-commerce platform

Recently, the idea of a pepper e-commerce platform of the students group from Vietnam – Korea University of Information Technology and Communication (VKU) – The University of Danang (UD) has impressed and excellently won the 2nd Prize (with an award of 80 million VND) at the national Creative Entrepreneurship Ideas Competition “GBA Business Challenge” co-organized by the German Business Association in Vietnam (GBA) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

The idea derived from the potentials and reality of VKU-UD students’ homeland of Gio Linh (Quang Tri) where pepper is one of popular products with hundreds hectares are the livelihoods of thousands of farming households.
With the idea of applying digital economy knowledge to trade pepper on an e-commerce platform, the students’ initiative consists of 2 components: a website and an online application.

The project’s goals are to connect buyers and sellers, improve the attractiveness and competitiveness for product consumption, thereby helping pepper growers to promote their products online, at the same time assisting consumers to easily choose appropriate products.

Currently, the students group has been implementing the pilot project in Gio Linh (Quang Tri) with different pepper products. According to Dr. Le Phuoc Cuu Long who is in charge of VKU-UD’s Department of Digital Economics & Trade, the idea of starting a start-up business in the food processing industry, especially commercialization of agricultural products, is a challenge; however the students were very creative and determined to implement their plan.

VKU-UD attached great importance to classroom training associated with practical needs, thereby encouraging students to apply digital economy, digital business administration, e-commerce, digital marketing,… through many integrated learning methods such as: project-based learning, practical experience-based learning, businesses’ demand-based learning, etc.
