The Opening ceremony of the 2025 Student Exchange Program between the University of Danang and Konan University, Japan

On the morning of February 25, 2025, the University of Danang (UD) held the opening of the 2025 student exchange program with Konan University (KU) in Japan, chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son – UD Vice President. At KNU’s side, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shari Ann Hanami Yamamoto and Mr. Taiki Niimi from the Konan International Exchange Center, KU.

Attending the ceremony, there were also senior representatives from UD-Department of Science and International Cooperation along with 16 students of KU. This activity is part of the cooperation agreement between the two universities to connect, exchange, attract international students, and enhance the capacity and level of internationalization of higher education.

In the opening remark, Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son – UD Vice President welcomed and greeted the KU’s delegation of lecturers and students for their visit and exchange with UD. This was an activity that realized the content of the cooperation agreement between the two universities signed in 2023.

UD Vice President Le Quang Son introduced an overview of UD, which is a regional multi-disciplinary university among the top in Vietnam with a training scale of approximately 60,000 students; it plays an important role in contributing to the development of the Central Area – Western Highlands of the country. Many generations of alumni from UD have become successful, holding key positions and leading agencies, businesses, and schools.

UD is invested by the Vietnamese Government to become a National University, one of the top 3 centers for training, scientific research, and international cooperation in the country, recognized in the region and globally until 2030, with a vision for 2045. To achieve its strategic goals, UD always emphasizes the development of international cooperation with universities around the world, including Japan, with many reliable partner institutions such as KU.

Speaking at the program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shari Ann Hanami Yamamoto - expressed her pleasure when being welcomed at UD. She also highly appreciated the meaningfulness of the exchange program between UD and KU and hoped that this valuable opportunity would give UD’s member universities, especially UD’s students, more perspectives in a multicultural environment to exchange, learn and experience the dynamic and hospitable Vietnamese people.

According to the plan (from February 24 to March 2, 2025), the two sides will coordinate to organize and participate in a series of thematic exchange events on key topics such as Research and Development of Sustainable Environment; Vietnam's Economy and Globalization; and Heritage and Cultural Architecture.

These seminars will have the accompaniment and guidance of UD’s lecturers (UD- University of Science and Technology, UD- University of Economics, and UD- University of Science and Education).

Enhancing exchanges and interactions
of international students
with a vision of global citizenship
KU’s lecturers and students will also interact with UD’s students; have a field trip to Toyota Okayama company in Da Nang; experience and explore the local culture and cuisine; and visit the attractions and heritage sites in Da Nang City and Quang Nam province.
