The President of the UD welcomed the Ambassador of India to Vietnam for a visit and working session

On June 24th, 2025, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - President of The University of Danang (UD) has chaired a meeting to welcome H.E. Mr. Sandeep Arya - the Ambassador of India to Vietnam for an official courtesy visit and working session with UD.

Representatives from UD’s departments and institutes, including Vietnam-UK Institute for Research and Training (VNUK) and Software Development Center (SDC) were in attendance.

Speaking at the reception, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu highlighted UD’s role as a leading multi-disciplinary institution in central Vietnam, with six member universities and nearly 70,000 students. 

The President of UD emphasized UD’s commitment to improving training quality and scientific research, describing these as the cornerstones of sustainable development and national responsibility.

The President of UD shared that when Da Nang city is implementing many strategic projects as new driving forces such as the recent announcement of the establishment of a Free Trade Zone, the upcoming International Financial Center, with the strengths of Indian universities such as in the fields of information technology, artificial intelligence or health sciences, UD hopes that through the role and reputation of the Ambassador, it will help connect and further strengthen cooperative relationships with Indian partners.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu expressed hope that, with Ambassador Arya’s support, UD could deepen partnerships with Indian universities, especially in fields like information technology, artificial intelligence, and health sciences.

Ambassador Arya, making his first visit to UD, thanked the university for its warm reception. H.E. Mr. Sandeep Arya outlined several areas for potential collaboration, including:

1- Joint Degree Programs: Developing 3+1 and 2+2 Programs that allow students to study at both UD and leading Indian universities, such as Gandhinagar University, particularly in semiconductor and AI fields.

2- Student Exchanges: Facilitating short-term courses and summer programs for Indian and Vietnamese students to foster academic and cultural exchange.

3- Expert Collaboration: Promoting joint research initiatives and co-organizing academic conferences, with Indian experts and professors engaging in collaborative teaching and research at the UD.

4- Scholarships: Expanding Indian government scholarship programs to benefit more Vietnamese students, beyond those currently concentrated in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

5- Cultural Cooperation: Promoting cultural and film exchanges and encouraging Indian experts to participate in heritage preservation projects and academic dialogue on culture and history.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu highly appreciated these proposals, affirming that they align with UD’s strategic goals and Vietnam’s national priorities for science, technology, and innovation. 

The President of UD pointed to the strong foundation of Vietnam - India relations, recent government policies supporting international cooperation in higher education, and the growing presence of Indian visitors and businesses in Danang.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu stated that UD is ready to work closely with the Indian Embassy to turn these ideas into concrete partnerships, and assigned the Department of Science and International Cooperation to coordinate future initiatives.
