The President of the University of Danang attended and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with partners at the Conference on Cooperation and Investment in Education 2022

On September 15, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) held the Conference on Cooperation and Investment in Education 2022. Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - President of the University of Danang (UD) attended and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of Western Australia (Australia).

This hybrid event attracted a large number of delegates from central and local state management agencies in education, organizations and foreign diplomatic agencies in Vietnam; domestic and foreign investors, investment funds, educational institutions.

This was an important event which aimed at increasing the mobilization of social resources for investment in education development in the spirit of Resolution No. 35/ND-CP, thereby promoting international cooperation and integration activities in the field of education. The Conference created a forum to connect, share information and experiences, especially opportunities for information support and legal corridors for cooperation and investment activities in the field of education and training.

Speaking at the Conference, Deputy Minister of MOET Nguyen Van Phuc said that in order to continue to improve the quality of human resource training, meet the requirements of Industrialization-Modernization and international integration, the Government of Vietnam always encourages, creates favorable conditions, wishes to attract more and more domestic and foreign investors to invest, join and contribute to the development of education and training.

Thanks to macro policies, including cooperation and investment in education, the country has had more than 400 international training programs deployed at 44 higher education institutions which included 5 foreign-invested higher education institutions; established educational cooperation relations with more than 100 countries and territories; been an active member of international organizations (SEAMEO, ASEAN, ASEM, APEC...); attracted more than 600 foreign investment cooperation projects in the field of education (total investment capital is more than 4.5 billion USD)…

With a Vietnamese tradition for the fondness of learning and respect for talented people, considering education and training as a top national policy, Vietnam has many potentials and investment opportunities to attract more resources for educational development, representative leaders of the MOET said.

Experts discussed, shared experiences of investment cooperation and recommended many ideas and solutions to promote investment attraction in education and training, especially in the context of promoting economic growth, integration, flexible adaptation and safe control to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Witnessing the mark of cooperation signed between the leaders of UD and the University of Western Australia (Australia), Charge of Affaires, the Australian Embassy in Vietnam Mark Tattersall highly appreciated the opportunity for cooperation in education and training development, which is an area of interest and investment by the Governments of the two countries. UD is the leading university in Vietnam with many cooperation agreements signed and implemented with prestigious Australian universities (University of Queensland, University of Sydney, Monash University, University of Western Australia, etc.)

For the academic year 2022-2023, UD takes the theme of the academic year which is: "Strengthening cooperation between universities and businesses, promoting international cooperation activities to improve the quality of training and scientific research in line with requirements of practices for the sake of sustainable development".

 

Along with the mark of the official launch of the Partnership for Higher Education Reform (PHER) project funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and coordinated by Indiana University (USA) in order to develop the three leading universities in Vietnam, namely UD and two Vietnam National Universities in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in the period of 2022-2026 (Learn more here), UD will have more resources and new motivation to continue developing rapidly and sustainably, affirming its prestige and position, making positive contributions to the development and integration process of the country's higher education.
