The University of Danang and the two Vietnam National Universities, Hanoi and HoChiMinh city launched a Partnership for Higher Education Reform – PHER project

On August 1st, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - President of the University of Danang (UD) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son – UD’s Vice President attended the Launching Ceremony of the Partnership for Higher Education Reform (PHER) project, held in Hanoi.

PHER project is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Indiana University (USA) in collaboration with UD and the two Vietnam National Universities, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to implement this project in 5 years (2022 - 2026).
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Minister of Ministry of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son emphasized that on the trend of innovation, the Vietnam National Universities, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and the University of Danang were the pioneers in reforming Vietnamese higher education to bring better values to society.

The trend of internationalization and globalization brings challenges as well as offers many opportunities to renovate the higher education system with the aim of becoming a foundation for qualitative changes in the workforce; improving the capacity for training, scientific research and technology transfer, innovation; and linking the domestic labor market with international one.
The Vietnamese higher education system needs to continue striving for autonomy, innovating methods and governance system, and promoting the linkage between higher education institutions and enterprises in particular and the community in general to improve the quality of training and scientific research.

According to Mr. Marc Knapper - the U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam, the U.S government was committed to be a partner to support the success and development of Vietnamese universities and joined hands to improve the quality and market responsiveness of higher education system to promote the sustainable growth.

Through the PHER Project, the three leading Vietnamese universities would have the opportunity to update advanced and highly practical teaching and learning methods to help students develop their competencies, soft skills as well as strengthen the university-enterprise linkage to support students to be ready to join in and quickly adapt to the global labor market after graduation.
Universities would promote the connection of domestic and international networks of scientists and researchers by establishing and organizing several research groups in key fields, promoting cooperation relationship in research, applying and transferring technology with the enterprises community and the private sector, thereby demonstrating the ability to create values for enterprises and the community.
