The University of Danang expands and strengthens the cooperations with leading prestigious universities in Australia

From July 26-30, 2024, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - President of The University of Danang (UD) led a working delegation to visit and work at the invitation of partners, thereby continuing to expand and develop cooperation with leading prestigious universities in Australia such as: University of Sydney, Monash University.

Also attending were Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Thanh Bac - Vice President of UD and Director of the Center for Continuing Education; representatives of the leaders of the Departments: Science and International Cooperation, Planning and Financial Affairs and the Center for Continuing Education of UD.

At the University of Sydney (New South Wales), the leaders of UD worked with the leaders of partners to exchange experiences and learn about needs to promote potential and strengths for cooperation.

This was the first visit of the leaders of UD to the University of Sydney, one of the universities with a long tradition and is considered to have top international prestige (Top 18 QS World University Rankings; Top 60 THE World University Rankings in 2024).

Leaders of the two sides exchanged and introduced the general and outstanding features of each university, focusing on orientations to promote cooperation such as: Developing joint training programs (2+2, 2.5+1.5); co-supervising scientific research for students; seeking joint research projects;

The two sides will increase the exchange of lecturers for PhD training under Project 89, exchange experts, invite prestigious scientists to attend and be keynote speakers at international conferences (similar to the way that UD - University of Economics invites professors from La Trobe University, Adelaide); cooperate in student exchange, organize internship programs, summer school or field trips, etc.

At Monash University, leaders of UD had a working session, discussed topics of interest to both sides in order to promoting regional and national development cooperation in the context of integration and globalization, including experiences in innovation in governance and development of university education.

The highlight of the visit and working session was that Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - President of UD and Prof. Craig Jeffrey - Vice President of Monash University signed a key Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote comprehensive cooperation from the exchange of scholars, scientists and managers to the exchange of students;

The two sides will cooperate in implementing joint postgraduate training programs (mainly based on scholarships from the two governments), regular training and internships for students; coordinate to organize academic events and international conferences; cooperate in research in fields and specialties in which each side has its strengths; share academic information resources, etc.

The working trip of the leaders of UD was meaningful because this year the two countries celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the strategic partnership (2014-2024) and have upgraded the relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (2021); at the same time, it is also the occasion to celebrate the 50th anniversary of ASEAN-Australia relations (1974-2024), in which human resource development and science and technology cooperation are considered by the leaders of the two countries as one of the three breakthroughs to promote bilateral cooperation.
