The University of Danang - University of Economics (UD-DUE) - organized the 2024 Vietnam Symposium on Climate Transition

From December 12 to 13, 2024, the 2024 Vietnam Symposium in Climate Transition was taken place at UD-DUE. The event was co-organized by UD-DUE in collaboration with the Global Association of Vietnamese Scientists and Experts (AVSE Global) and Massey University, New Zealand.

Overview of the VSCT-2024 Conference
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Thi Thuy Anh - Chairwoman of the University Council of UD-DUE, the global context presented challenges and risks due to the impacts of climate change, requiring effective solutions for research and mitigation, including impacts on macroeconomic policies and the use of renewable new energy sources.

In response to the demands and objective trends, the international conference VSCT-2024 provided an opportunity and forum for researchers, experts, policymakers, and lecturers from universities to share their concerns, announce new research findings, and collaboratively propose ideas and solutions for pressing issues facing Vietnam and the world, aimed at mitigating the adverse impacts of climate change and environmental challenges on economic development.
This was also an opportunity to connect with a network of experts, share academic experiences, conduct research, and expand collaborative research projects in international initiatives with the academic community both domestically and internationally.

According to the representative of the Organizing Committee, AVSE Global is a reputable organization that recently signed a cooperation agreement with UD to enhance collaborative capacity, bringing together a network of experts and esteemed scientists to connect multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary knowledge for the goal of sustainable development.
Therefore, the VSCT-2024 conference, jointly organized by UD-DUE and AVSE Global, vividly demonstrated the spirit of connection and partnership in addressing global scientific challenges.

At the Plenary Session, scholars from the United Kingdom were Prof. Ian Bateman from the University of Exeter, and Prof. Sumit Agarwal from the National University of Singapore presented a comprehensive scientific report on the academic issues at the intersection of energy, environment, and economics, finance.

Following the presentations by the keynote speakers, there was a roundtable discussion on policy issues surrounding topics on adaptation and mitigation of the climate change impacts on macroeconomic development policies, linked with international experiences, opening up new perspectives and promoting multidimensional cooperation.

The VSCT-2024 received 43 scientific reports and presentations, connecting domestic and international experts and scientists. This not only enhances scientific potential but also affirms the role and reputation of UD-DUE as a destination for national and international academic events.
