On December 13, 2024, the University of Danang - University of Science and Technology (UD-DUT) organized a conference on "Digital Transformation at UD-DUT: Opportunities and Challenges".

Overview of the Conference

Attending the conference were experts from Hanoi University of Science and Technology: Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hung – Director of Department of Training Affairs, Dr. Nguyen Nhat Hai - Director of the Digital Transformation Center; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Hieu – UD-DUT Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Lam - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of UD-DUT Council; senior representatives from UD-Department of Science and International Cooperation, UD-DUT Rectorate Board and leaders from various offices, faculties, centers, and the IT team of UD-DUT.

According to Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Huu Hieu – UD-DUT Rector, Digital Transformation is an urgent and highly significant issue for every university. Hanoi University of Science and Technology and UD-DUT are leading training institutions in various fields, particularly in engineering, that share commonalities to exchange experiences, seek solutions to enhance the effectiveness and quality of digital transformation efforts, keep up with trends, and support sustainable development goals.

According to representatives from Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the challenges and achievements stemming from digital transformation come from the determination of the entire system, establishing strategies, and persistently following the roadmap and objectives, especially in terms of implementation methods that fit actual conditions. These are the accumulated experiences to continue promoting digital transformation to meet the demands of higher education innovation.

At the conference, UD-DUT experts raised issues related to digital transformation from reality, the need to enhance the efficiency of higher education governance reform, and the application of IT and digital technology.

The delegates openly identified the difficulties, obstacles, and issues that could be seen as “bottlenecks” needing to be cleared up in the process of implementing digital transformation, such as focusing on human resources, infrastructure, and finance; technical issues, information security, building and perfecting the technology platform, and database storage systems for digital transformation to ensure success…

The results of the conference not only strengthen connections and share experiences among universities in general, and relevant units in digital transformation in particular, but also contribute to providing more motivation, raising awareness, and determination to take action to improve quality and find effective solutions for the digital transformation process at UD-DUT, promoting potential and strengths to meet requirements and trends in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
