The University of Danang - VNUK Institute for Research and Executive Education organized the U-Invent 2023 National Science and Technology Innovation Contest for high school students

On the morning of January 7, The University of Danang - VNUK Institute for Research and Executive Education (UD-VNUK), organized the Final Round of the 6th Contest "National Science and Technology Innovation for High School Students in 2023" (U-Invent-2023).

The program was accompanied and coordinated with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and Da Nang Youth Union, bringing together nearly 160 students from 27 high schools nationwide to register to participate, connecting  39 teams with many creative and meaningful ideas with the theme: “Bridging Innovations for a Better Life: Leave No One Behind”.

Accompanying and participating in the Final Round, organized solemnly by UD-VNUK on a large scale, attracting a large number of students, there was also the presence of lecturers representing the Board of Principals of many high schools in the area and parents cared, encouraged and cheered the competition teams.

According to Dr. Nguyen Thi My Huong - Dean of UD-VNUK said that U-Invent is an academic "playground", inspiring innovation for high school students, expanding nationwide. This is also a model that connects STEM education with science and practical applications, serving society; connects the high school and university educational environments that UD-VNUK has the mission of pioneering and initiating.

U-Invent 2023 was organized in the form of Bootcamp throughout 03 months with many forms of connecting, meeting and training competition teams and contestants who were high school students with necessary knowledge and skills, especially with useful advice and experience sharing from experts (mentors) help competion teams perfect their ideas, solutions and products/services, in order to make a practical contribution to meeting the needs of innovation for the community.

At the Final Round, the Judges gathered prestigious experts in the fields including: Dean of UD-VNUK Dr. Nguyen Thi My Huong; Vice Chairman of Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Association, General Director of Seatech Da Nang Mr. Le Van Hieu; CEO of Da Nang Business Incubator Mr. Nguyen Van Chuong; Co-founder and CEO of Enouvo IT Solutions, Ms. Tran Hanh Trang and CEO of PapaGroup Mr. Mai Thanh Xuan, jointly evaluated, gave feedback and constructive advices to 07 teams (each team presented their project/product in 15 minutes, and interacted with the Judges for 10 minutes), thereby highlighting topics, ideas, scientific and creative products.

In the end, the First prize went to the project "Strap to reduce injuries when falling" of FLTs Team (Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted and Tran Phu High School, Da Nang) with an award worth 20 million VND, Medals, Certificates, Gifts from sponsors and Support Package for participating in the Invent for the Planet (IFTP) 2024 Competition in the United States worth $1,500 (equivalent to 36 million VND).

The Second prize went to the Project "Youth Psychological Support Platform" of Challengers Team (Phan Chau Trinh High School, Da Nang) with an award worth 15 million VND, Medals, Certificates and Gifts from the sponsors.

Awarded the Third prize U-Invent 2023

 

The Third prize went to the project "Fainting warning wristwatch" of The Satlers Team (Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Da Nang) with an award worth 10 million VND, Medals, Certificates and Gifts from the sponsors.

In addition, the Organization Committee also has 03 Consolation prizes and 01 Innovation prize for high school student teams.

The success of U-Invent 2023 not only gave wings to the creative dreams of high school students but also continued to develop, expand its scope and raise the reputation of a useful and meaningful "playground" in the context of Industrial Revolution 4.0; was a continued affirmation of the enthusiasm and efforts of UD-VNUK and its partners to spread STEM education, foster the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship for school youth.
