UD-CK promotes education partnership with southern Lao localities

12/04/2026

A delegation from The University of Danang - Campus in Kon Tum (UD-CK) visited four southern Lao provinces from April 5 to 9 to deepen cooperation in education and training, as the institution seeks to expand academic partnerships and student mobility in the region.

The delegation, led by Dr. Nguyen To Nhu, acting Deputy Director of UD-CK, held working sessions in Champasak, Salavan, Sekong, and Attapeu, where it met with local officials to discuss training needs and areas for future cooperation.

Campus representatives said the institution has a strong track record of training Lao students and contributing to the development of skilled human resources for southern Laos. They added that this cooperation has also helped strengthen cultural exchange and the longstanding friendship between the university and Lao localities.

During the visit, the delegation worked with provincial education, sports, and foreign affairs authorities, introducing the campus’s full-time undergraduate admissions programs for the 2026–27 academic year, including incentive policies and scholarships for Lao students.

UD-CK also expressed its readiness to coordinate short-term training courses for Lao civil servants and public officials. These courses will focus on topics such as the use of artificial intelligence in administrative work, information gathering and processing for leadership and management, and the design and implementation of proposals and projects.

The delegation also met with businesses including Thaco Agri, TTC, and Dao Huong Group to assess labor demand and explore cooperation on internships and work-study opportunities for both Lao and UD-CK students. The programs would include financial support and could lead to employment after graduation.

A key outcome of the visit was a proposal by UD-CK to Champasak University to develop a 2+2 articulation program in which students would complete their first two years in Laos and their final two years at UD-CK. The proposed program would cover Information Technology, Business Administration, and Primary Education.

As an initial step, the two sides plan to select one academic program for a pilot phase. The initiative is expected to widen access to study and career opportunities for students while supporting broader cooperation within ASEAN and the Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia Development Triangle.
