UD-DUT and Singapore Polytechnic launch the 9th Learning Express Project-Based Programme
04/04/2026
The University of Danang - University of Science and Technology (UD-DUT), in collaboration with Singapore Polytechnic (SP), has launched the 9th Learning Express international project-based learning programme, taking place from March 29 to April 9, 2026. The programme brings together students from both institutions, including 30 SP students, supported by faculty mentors.

Speaking at the opening, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hong Hai, Vice Rector of UD-DUT, noted that Learning Express has been organised continuously since 2016 under the cooperation framework between UD-DUT and SP. He highlighted the programme as a practical model that diversifies learning and research through experiential, community-linked projects, aligning with higher education internationalisation trends across ASEAN.

Learning Express is designed to foster peer learning and interdisciplinary collaboration, enabling students to apply knowledge to real-world contexts and contribute solutions to local challenges to serve the community.
Representing the SP delegation, Harveen Kaur said that the programme offers more than academic exchange. Participants also strengthen cross-cultural communication and language skills through teamwork and community engagement—experiences that help broaden students’ global outlook and professional readiness.

Throughout the programme, mixed teams will undertake field surveys and community needs assessments, with activities focused on Hoi An and surrounding areas near Da Nang, including local craft villages. Using Design Thinking, students will identify practical challenges and develop feasible, context-appropriate solutions aimed at improving the quality and efficiency of traditional local products.

By connecting classroom learning with field-based projects, Learning Express supports the development of proactive, innovative, and adaptable future engineers and young researchers. The programme is also expected to strengthen students’ capabilities in a multicultural academic environment while expanding institutional networks for academic and research collaboration.
