UD organized the online training courses within the framework of the PHER Project

 

On August 22, 2024, the University of Danang (UD) organized a training program on developing online training courses under the framework of the Partnership for Higher Education Reform-PHER project. 

Overview of the training program

Attending the opening of the ceremony were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son – UD Vice President; Ms. Nguyen Mai Phuong - Deputy Director of PHER Project Management Board; experts from Vietnam National University, Hanoi and Optimal e-learning Solution-OES, representatives of functional departments (ODA Project Management, Academic Affairs and Quality Assurance Department and staff and lecturers of UD

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son – UD’s Vice President, this was a practical and useful program to unify awareness and importance of research and develop and diversify teaching and learning models, apply information technology and digital transformation, aiming to build and perfect the online and e-learning training models to stay ahead and keep up with trends.

“Online education is an important tool to promote the development of modern education, not only as an immediate solution but also as a long-term strategy, bringing knowledge to "every corner", expanding opportunities, a door to study, research, and discovery for everyone,” emphasized by Vice President Le Quang Son.

UD Vice President Le Quang Son suggested and hoped that, through this program, UD’s lecturers and experts would actively grasp knowledge, apply and practice skills to apply to actual expertise in implementing online training courses, including UD-University of Foreign Language Studies (UD-UFLS), which would receive and develop online English training courses.

According to Ms. Nguyen Mai Phuong - Deputy Director of PHER Project Management Board, the key content of training was to build online training courses to contribute to improving the quality of training in higher education institutions, of which UD was the pioneer university in quality assurance and educational accreditation.

This is a trend and necessity in the context of global knowledge integration that universities aim to appropriately apply international experience to their educational practices.

Dr. Lam Thi Hoa Binh, VNU, Hanoi delivered a report

After the Opening session, delegates and students listened to useful reports from experts, discussed and shared experiences from practice, focusing on key topics such as:

(1) Building models and principles of e-training and the experiences of implementation at VNU, Hanoi (Dr. Nghiem Xuan Huy - Director of the Institute for Educational Quality Assurance - VNU, Hanoi);

(2) Sharing practical experiences in implementing the B1 English module of the University of Foreign Languages ​​– VNU, Hanoi (Dr. Lam Thi Hoa Binh – VNU, Hanoi);

(3) The process of designing an online course and demoing a specific learning activity (Mr. Nguyen Duc Binh - Director of OES Online Training Service Company).

From August 22-23, within the framework of the planned training program, a technical support session on building an online English course under the PHER Project was organized to provide technical support, equip knowledge, and necessary tools for UD- UFLS.

Discussion session

Representatives of relevant units and UD-UFLS reported and shared needs, experiences, and directions for building and adjusting the program and materials of English modules to adapt to the online training model; propose a teaching-learning implementation plan and learning materials for this training method.

Actively grasp knowledge, apply and practice pioneering skills in implementing e-training

Previously, within the framework of the PHER Project, UD also successfully organized technical support sessions on the training program monitoring system and educational quality assurance; upheld the spirit of scientific integrity and research ethics in academia; gender equality, women's empowerment in education and research.
