The University of Danang signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Yokohama National University (Japan)
On October 21, 2021, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – President of the University of Danang (UD) and Prof. Umehara Izuru – President of Yokohama National University (YNU) co-chaired the online Memorandum of Understanding Signing Ceremony between the two universities.

The ceremony drew the virtual participation of Mr. Yakabe Yoshinori – Head of the Japanese Consulate Office in Danang.
There were also Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son – Vice President of the UD and leader representatives of the UD’s functional departments (International Cooperation; Academic Affairs; Science, Technology and Environment; Student Affairs), Director of the Japan Center – UD, Head of YNU Representative Office in Danang.
For YNU part, there were Prof. Kabashima Hiromi – Vice President of YNU; Prof. Katsuchi Hiroshi – Dean of Graduate School of Urban Innovation; Mr. Nitta Tomoki – Director of International Office.

Speaking at the ceremony, the UD’s President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu acknowledged and appreciated the significance of the cooperation between the UD and YNU, considering this MOU signing ceremony as a development step that elevates the strategic partnership and brings mutual benefits to the two universities.
The UD’s President emphasized that the UD always attaches importance to the strategy of international cooperation with Japanese partners of which YNU is a prestigious university with a traditional relationship with the UD over the past 10 years. This relationship should be continuously developed to meet the common needs and interests, contributing to fostering the Vietnam – Japan friendship.

For his part, YNU’s President Prof. Umehara Izuru expressed his pleasure and desire to deepen the cooperation between the two universities that share many common points. Accordingly, YNU and the UD are both key regional/national-level, multi-disciplinary universities of each country.
Prof. Umehara Izuru believed that the two sides would continue to promote cooperation, share experiences in the fields of education and training, scientific research and technology transfer.
Head of the Japanese Consulate Office in Danang – Mr. Yakabe Yoshinori, spoke highly of the significance and prospect of the cooperation between the UD and YNU, which will contribute positively to improving the human resource serving the needs of enterprises, organizations of Vietnam and Japan.

At the event, the participants discussed, shared concerns and proposed orientations, solutions to concretize the signed agreement such as: promoting cooperation in the fields of social sciences and humanities, training high school teachers, collaborating to organize scientific workshops, conferences associated with practical needs of localities of the two countries,…

The YNU side also proposed some measures to strengthen online cooperation activities. Besides, YNU is ready to implement in-person collaboration activities with the UD when the Covid-19 pandemic is under control.
