On December 26 and 27, Danang International Institute of Technology (DNIIT), The University of Da Nang (UD) organized a training course "Artificial Intelligence in smart city development".

The program was accompanied by the Agence Universitaire De La Francophonie (AUF), the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Da Nang City, Faculty of Advanced Science and Technology, University of Science and Technology - UD, SmU2SmC Lab and TAPIT Enterprise.

The training course attracted nearly 250 officials, lecturers, postgraduate students, experts and scholars from universities, businesses as well as organizations, associations and agencies in the area of Da Nang city and the localities of the Central Highlands region.

At the training course, after the opening session, there were representatives of UD's leaders, the Department of Information and Communications, the Union of Science and Technology Associations of the city, experts presented the reports about the topics: "Da Nang - smart city", "Accessing to AI in smart city development", "Multi-modal Artificial Intelligence and application potential in Smart City".

Delegates and students have accessed to the fundamental knowledge of Industry 4.0 to develop "smart city" such as: Machine learning; Images processing with Open CV, Python, and Google Colab; Images classification, object separation, face recognition, deep learning with Google Colab, etc.

The training course also offered opportunities to experience the artificial intelligence technology (AI) and applications such as: Applying AI in traffic monitoring, environment, health and food safety; Application of Edge AI in sound recognition; Internet of things connected (IoT) application in "smart office", etc.

Following the success of the campaign "Smart Campus" deployed for UD's member universities, on this occasion, DNIIT introduced and launched the contest "Artificial Intelligence for Smart City" connecting State-Schools-Entrepreneurs to promote and develop ideas, technical and technological solutions, contribute to bringing research and transfer results from business and universities to the society, serve the community according to the development orientation of Da Nang, "a smart and worth living city", Dr. Nguyen Thi Anh Thu, Vice Rector of DNIIT Institute shared.

At the end of the training course, the trainees received certificates and gained a lot of knowledge and information values from advanced technology platforms.

The success of the course showed that the DNIIT - UD has positively demonstrated its role, mission and contribution to training human resources for Da Nang city in the fields of new technology, high technology, accompanying the “National Digital Conversion Program” and the goal of building a "smart city" moving along with the 4.0 era.
