FACLE - 2026 promotes global dialogue on foreign affairs, culture and language education

On May 12, 2026, The University of Danang - University of Foreign Language Studies (UD-UFLS), in collaboration with Far Eastern Federal University (Russia), held the International Conference on Foreign Affairs, Communication and Language Education in the Era of Global Integration (FACLE 2026).

 

The conference, themed “Vietnam’s Foreign Policy and Culture: From Regional Integration to Shaping a Global Role in the 21st Century,” brought together scholars, administrators, experts, lecturers, doctoral candidates, as well as graduate and undergraduate students from Vietnam and abroad.

Participants discussed academic and practical issues related to global integration, digital transformation and the internationalization of higher education.

In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Long, Rector of UD-UFLS and Head of the Conference Organizing Committee, emphasized the significance of the conference theme in the current global context.

He said the event provided an opportunity to examine cultural foreign policy orientations in connection with language education and communication, while contributing to stronger connectivity, international integration and the development of high-quality human resources.

University leaders said human resource development, scientific research, innovation and the internationalization of education remain strategic pillars of UD-UFLS.

They noted that the conference served not only as a platform for expanding academic networks and promoting joint research, but also as a step toward building a broader international higher education network with reputable partners, including Far Eastern Federal University.

 

Delivering a keynote address, Dr. Phan Minh Duc, Secretary of the Communist Party Committee at UD, praised the proactive role of UD-UFLS in coordinating with international partners to organize the conference.

He said the event reflected the university’s continued commitment to improving the quality of training and scientific research, while deepening international integration in a changing global environment.

 

Mr. Yaroslav Shevchenko, Director of the Department for International Cooperation Development at Far Eastern Federal University, said the conference offered an important venue for scholars, research groups and experts to share academic knowledge and explore new avenues of cooperation.

He expressed hope that the event would help strengthen strategic partnerships with Vietnam in communication, language education and culture.

The representative of Far Eastern Federal University also highlighted the academic reputation of UD-UFLS, as well as its strategic location in Danang, one of Vietnam’s most dynamic and fast-developing cities.

He said the conference was expected to help participating institutions leverage their strengths and advance initiatives in education and people-to-people diplomacy in a more effective and sustainable manner.

 

At the plenary session, delegates heard and discussed in-depth presentations following a pre-conference session. The conference featured 115 scientific papers and presentations by scholars and experts from universities, research institutes, and educational and scientific organizations in Vietnam and abroad.

Discussions focused on a range of timely issues, including Vietnam’s foreign policy, emerging trends in diplomacy linked to culture and educational communication in the digital age, international cooperation in education, and the promotion of cultural exchange.

Following the plenary session, seven thematic subcommittees convened to present specialized reports, offering multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary perspectives on educational diplomacy, scientific cooperation and cultural exchange in the new global context.

The FACLE 2026 International Conference opened new space for academic cooperation and cultural exchange, while reaffirming the role of UD-UFLS in promoting training, research, connectivity and international integration.
