International experts inspire research and innovation among postgraduate students at UD-VKU

04/06/2026

From May 25 to 29, 2026, the University of Danang - Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (UD-VKU), invited two international scholars, Prof. Dr. Herwig Unger from Germany and Dr. Panchalee Sukjit from Thailand, to deliver specialized lectures for students enrolled in the University's three Master's programs.

According to UD-VKU leadership representatives, a notable feature of this year's graduate training program is that students of the newly enrolled third Master's cohort had the opportunity to engage with international lecturers during their very first week of study.

This initiative has brought fresh perspectives and enthusiasm to postgraduate students by introducing innovative ways of thinking and research methodologies. It has also created valuable opportunities for academic exchange between lecturers and students, enabling them to share research experiences and gain exposure to internationally oriented knowledge and expertise.

Prof. Dr. Herwig Unger guided students through fundamental concepts of Artificial Intelligence (AI), highlighting how natural phenomena can inspire the design of intelligent computational models and systems. His lectures covered topics such as Cellular Automata, the Game of Life, distributed systems, and self-organizing mechanisms. These approaches provide new perspectives on understanding and developing AI applications for complex systems and structures.

In addition, postgraduate students were introduced to algorithms inspired by the behavior of ants, bees, and fireflies, helping them gain deeper insights into solving complex optimization problems in computer science and AI. These topics are not only scientifically significant but also highly relevant to current global technological and knowledge trends.

Students shared that learning from international experts has enabled them to acquire comprehensive and in-depth professional knowledge while developing creative thinking and critical reasoning skills for addressing real-world challenges. This innovative approach to postgraduate education serves as a source of inspiration for creative learning, helping students establish clear research directions and strengthen their academic and methodological foundations.
